I love how stats can make an unknown player look so good. I'm sure I've rated a player because of it as well in the past.
But, for Depay, or Memphis otherwise Yorky won't believe I actually know something about the Eredivisie, I can tell you this: his stats are very misleading. As a Turk born and raised in the Netherlands I can assure you Yorky, no one except MAYBE some die hard PSV fans give a f**k how Depay wants to be called.
Back to the stats. He is not that effective at all. This year PSV just dominated the Eredivisie. They brought Luuk de Jong back to the Eredivisie and he has been on fire, not just stats wise, but he has changed the football for the better. Also, Guardado has been like Coquelin has been for us. They used to be in shambles defensively, resulting in aloooot of points lost and Depay was not the one to change all of this.
His goals and assists, really, it's because the Eredivisie is so poor. When you put a dominant side in a poor league, you are bound to have some great stats among your attacking players.
Having said all of this, of course I believe he still has potential. He looks strong and confident and I think he has that special something to him, to change games in an instant. But Januzaj has that too and look where he is at lol.
Memphis Depay is what Januzaj would perform like in a weak competition.
Just my 2 cents.
