We try to get Jack to accept reduced pay (Which is a joke in this age of inflation anyway), and finally when other clubs try to sign him, offer him what he was asking in the first place.

We offered him £90k a week + bonuses initially

We've agreed on a deal for £100k a week + bonuses now.

Why? .... he will be pushing 30 when this contract ends so his resale value will probably be almost nothing, he's hardly in massive demand now ... we will have to pay him 5m a year for three/four years when frankly he's not going to get a whole lot of playing time ....

AM's - Ozil - Mkhi - Aaron
DM's - Xhaka - Elneney

Who would you drop for Jack? and I'm pretty sure any new manager will buy a decent DM ... at least I hope he would ... that pushes Jack even further down the pecking order ...

We've had far to many players over the years sucking up salary with no serious chance of playing much football ... will we never learn? I'd rather see three or four youngsters on 35k fighting to make the first team than watch Jack playing cheerleader for another four years ....

I'm OK with him staying provided he stays fit. No WC action this summer is a blessing in that regard

Should've been sold three years ago. C'est la vie.

He's good for depth tbf and if he can get past his injuries, he could become important for us again. Last season was the first time he didn't have any serious injuries inn a while and the medical staff know how to look after him now.

Also, it's not like England is exactly blessed with young English talent that can stand on par with top 6 players.

Jack doesn't look out of place where as some of the dross you can find in the league that goes for millions above value if you take away nationality, certainly don't.
