Hi haters

He captained the worst performance by an Arsenal team in living memory - and the only one with any real meaning ... CL or no CL was on the table in that game ...

If you believe Theo is a competent captain then you're clearly not the full shilling .... these are the basic competencies of a good captain .... even with your most Theo tinted glasses on he doesn't have 50% of 'em .....

Self-awareness: Knowledge of your own values, passions, skills, strengths and
weaknesses, an ability to admit and learn from mistakes and a readiness to seek
information to fill knowledge gaps.
Integrity: A strong sense of "what is right" and a demonstration of ethical practices that
sets the tone for others. A commitment to leading by example.
Courage: The strength to act in accordance with your values and the greater good
despite pressures pushing you in other directions. The ability to put the cause before the
desire to be popular.
Confidence: A belief in your ability to meet most challenges that come your way.
Enthusiasm: A lively interest in the people, issues and events around you, a feeling of
excitement about the possibilities, and the energy to guide them towards fruition.
Strong inter-personal skills: An ability to interact and work harmoniously with others,
while being prepared to take on individual responsibilities.
Effective communication: A willingness and ability to listen to and understand the
thoughts, ideas and concerns of others and to clearly communicate your own. A vision is
nothing if it can't be sold to others.
Belief in others: The desire to build the capabilities of others, praise them where
appropriate, go into bat for them when proper and motivate them to do their best.
Peer respect: An ability to inspire respect, maintain discipline and encourage the efforts
of others. (Respect does not equal popularity)
Sense of humour: The ability to have a laugh and relieve tense or stressful situations.
Competence: Others are unlikely to follow the lead of a person who does not appear to
know what they are doing.

Got to love how you ignore everything other than the bad things. Any player would seem shit doing that.

wins 3 of 4 under his captaincy scoring twice. Let's focus on the loss and least important game. Scores 100+, let's focus on what he's done under one competition instead.

Maybe it's time you looked at the whole picture rather than what you want to. Any player could be seen as shit otherwise.

Whole picture .....

Been here since 2005 ... but let's be fair to him and say his career properly started in 2007/8

Thus out of a possible 532 fixtures he's played in 318 ... so just 60%

From those 318 he has 106 goals and 49 assists .... so 1 goal every 3.34 games and an assist every 6.48 games

Which attacking winger over the same period would you like to compare him with?

The very best - Ronaldo 456 appearances goals 506 assists 164 .... so not on the same planet, but then who is?

How about a more average attacking winger someone Walcott was often compared with when he was down the road - Bale 362 games (and they call him sick note) 127 goals and 89 assists .... so still a mile away especially when it comes to teamwork and assists ....

Feck there are a dozen EPL midfield players at the moment Hazard, Son, Coutinho, Sanchez, KDB, Mane, Salah who are a million miles in front of our Theo ...

If you compare him with 'world' class he's obviously coming up short .... he's not the worst player in the world, he's perhaps slightly above average, however we will never win the EPL or CL with players of this calibre as first eleven material .... not unless the other 10 are carrying him ..... and right now half of them are even lesser quality ....

Just because he wears the shirt doesn't make him above criticism ... remember this is a player who said "I don't do skills training, I just focus on my natural talent" .... pretty much tells you all you need to know .... and why he's no better now than he was a feckin' decade ago ....
