Re: Theo Walcott announces retirement from football

What do we all make of Theo not being able to get into the side at the moment?

- Is Wenger being very careful with him after coming back from such a long injury?
- Does Wenger rate the likes of Welbeck, Ox & Sanchez ahead of Walcott now?
- Have Wenger and Theo already had talks about his future and he's decided already that he won't be extended his contract?

Everything all seems very up in the air with Theo. He's our main goal threat in my opinion so it's strange as to why he's not been starting or been involved in the games he's been available for.

I understand him not playing against Monaco because he's very ineffective against teams that like to put players behind the ball but games like today & last week versus Palace should we of seen him starting?

I also understand him being cautious in away games using the likes of Ox & Welbeck because both add a lot more defensively than what Theo does and work very hard for the team tracking back ect which Theo doesn't like to do.

I've noticed he's not completed 90 minutes since he's returned so perhaps Wenger could be slowly bringing him back because of his record with injuries.

I can't make head or tails of it. It's ridiculous.

I hope Wenger is being cautious with Theo this time around. I would expect Theo to feature a lot more in the coming weeks. If not, he's probably gone in the summer because of his contract situation...

I think its just rotation. Theo will start at QPR.

I think Wenger is just being cautious with him. Theo was out for an entire year and it takes time for the player to return to his best. If you look at our squad, we've the likes of Alexis, Chamberlain, Welbeck, Ozil and Rosicky who can all play out wide which makes his re-integration in the team that bit more slower because we've other options.

Three goals in four starts. Good numbers.

I'm not so sure if it's rotation. Wenger has been mentioning a lot recently about defensive responsibilities, I think it's a tactical choice he's not playing Walcott.

It is so inexplicable I think it may in fact be down to his contract situation - I remember he was similarly benched back in 2012 due to negotiations.

The fact United's bastard child is preferred to Walcott is unjustifiable in terms of football reasons so it must be something else.

I think its a combination of this and Wenger just wrapping him up in cotton wool. We don't have many ball winners in the team as it is with Ozil, Giroud, and Cazorla all starting so why play another player who won't put in a shift defensively. Atm, One (possibly two) of Ozil, Cazorla, or Giroud needs to be dropped for Walcott to start or we'll just have to wait for Ramsey or Wilshere to return to the first eleven

I can see him being a vital player for us against United. He'd probably come off the bench for that and start against West Ham as I think Wilshere/Ramsey will be good to go by then

Sanchez has gone off the boil. Welbeck is preferred over Walcott. Chamberlain usually starts these days when he's fit...

Play Sanchez behind Giroud - problem solved.

It seems kind of obvious to me that Wenger is freezing Theo out the team. I wouldn't be surprised if he was sold this summer, equally I wouldn't be surprised if we let him walk out on a free. Typical brain fart by le mong.

I have no idea what Theo has done to deserve being ignored… same with Tomas. Both very good players who are overlooked. They must have questioned the dictator.

We have a similar thing with OX not playing because featuring in X amount of games would mean a bonus or something. Just another way our club is being poorly run.
