My lasting memory of Giroud is receiving the ball, back to goal and falling on the floor in a vain attempt to get a free kick - that was hardly ever awarded. We would then lose the ball and I would want to punch his stupid L'Oreal face in! For a big man he is weak.

Giroud was good for us. Just a flawed player with limits, very much like we have with Xhaka, just a nicer human being though.

Not sure I'd take him back though. I'd rather we look at a younger target man with more movement who could be moulded into what Giroud was with his holdup play, this is sadly a dying art in football and why the majority of young strikers are absolute garbage. They can't use their strength to holdup the ball.

I don't get the hate for him though. It was Wengers fault for not buying another striker better than f***ing Welbeck to rotate with him when he went through his inevitable goal drought.

One thing i find so amazing is this guy played a giant part in putting us in this dire position by not just scoring against us in Baku but he was Chelsea best player the the tournaments overall best player in the Europa League last season, but i don't hate him one bit for it.

.................... or what about the look of sheer terror that came over Giroud's face whenever he received a through ball that put him clear on goal more than 4 metres from the net?

Knowing he had to run to goal without the eventual embarrassment of the defender setting up a picnic and having a car boot sale before Giroud finally got to goal.
