He was a £12 million signing that knocked in over 100 goals. Some very important ones aswell as some cup winning assists. Often the scapegoat but he gave his all for the club and continued to battle on time and time again to silence his critics.

Nothing but praise for him. Left us with some fantastic memories. Great servant to our club.

Au revior, Oliver!

Ok, thats nice. Look at the criticism Ozil gets by some of the very same people on this thread that are defending Giroud. Ozil cost circa £40m, peanuts considering the fact he was the defacto most creative attacking midfielder with records stats, in Europe, at the time we bought him. Look at his stats for Arsenal:

37 goals. 62 assists (source ESPN soccernet).
Ozil has scored or created 99 goals for Arsenal. Where is this very same respect for Ozil that is being shown by some to Giroud ?! Double standards much.

One of the strangest replies i've seen. I'm not speaking for the forum, you know?

I think people should consider watching another sport if they don't rate Ozil.

No striker in recent PL history bar Aguero has had as little competition for his role as Giroud.

For all the shit Giroud got, Wenger still gave him a free run at #9 for 5 full seasons, except for the half season when Welbeck seemed decent and the 5 games when he tried Walcott as CF.

There are lots of strikers as good or better than Giroud who will not get nearly the same recognition because they played for teams that brought in strikers regularly to keep them from getting too comfortable. Giroud got complacent in 2015 when Wenger signed only Cech and Elneny and his goalless run towards the end of yhe season played a part in our missing out on the title.

Giroud's overall stats are still good, but he wasn't challenged during his time here and that's a big reason why no big clubs were ever after him until last summer. He definitely improved, unlike Walcott who went backwards, but ultimately both leaving is what is best for Arsenal.

Both are still membes of the Arsenal 100 goal club and can leave here with heads held high.

Chelsea brought a useless tree stump on tonight to save them and look what happened... he lost the ball everytime he touched it and added nothing for them.

GO ON SON! Hold up play of the GODS

And what a fabulous assist too.

Giroud haters destroyed. Taking L after L. First, becoming the most expensive striker ever sold by Arsenal, then becoming the best striker at Chelsea in one start

An assist but poor game overall. Lost the ball countless times and his so called world class hold up play was terrible. Missed a sitter as well. They looked far better when morata came on and moved around.

Even the assist, knowing Giroud as we do I'm not convinced he meant that or just a shit first touch as he tried to turn and shoot. Fortunately for him, hazard anticipated the shit touch and got to it.

Thankfully I dont have to care anymore. He's their problem now.

If Giroud wins the Balon D'or and the Golden Boot two years in a row, that rises up to 35 million

Yep.

Denounced Barca's antics in the Final, pledged his loyalty to Arsenal, and signed a new contract two weeks after we lost.

Joins Barca the very next season...

It was the ultimate slap in the face, I would have preferred it if he pulled a Durant and joined them immediately after we lost to them.
