If someone said to you "even my nan could win the league with the money Pep spent", show them this United team. Almost half a billion pound spent, zero output. Apart from the wins against mighty Southampton in League Cup final and star-studded Ajax in the EL final two years ago, Mourinho has done nothing at United to put him level with Pep.

Money alone won't bring you success. A team needs a proper coach to bring the trophies home. Even Messi would've struggled playing with this version of Mourinho. I know his fans will keep bringing the fact that Mourinho has won stuff at Porto and Inter but that was almost a decade ago. Football has changed, the league has changed and players behaviours especially the youngsters have also changed. Either he needs to change (which is very unlikely) or he has to leave United and take a long break from football.

Tbh Messi would have dragged this on-paper-talented side to the UCL final but would have lost - with Lukaku missing sitters and Pogba acting like a clown.

They have been to short term with singings like Ibra and sanchez they should have accepted a few years back they wouldn't win the title and flush out players Valencia's, smallings, Herrera, fellaini, Mata, young.

They need to get rid of half the team and either try to go for good proven pl players that are at a decent age like a maguire and eriksen if he will not sign a contract and young exciting players.

They need to really focus on developing martial, Shaw and other young players.

They need a change of manager asap but until they get a proper strategy they will struggle.
