Tony Pulis

Postby Arsenal~Fanatic » Thu Aug 14, 2014 8:58 pm

Tony Pulis has left Crystal Palace by mutual consent.

Pulis, 56, met with chairman Steve Parish earlier in the day amid reports of friction between the pair over areas of responsibility.

The former Stoke manager has been frustrated by the failure to land a number of his transfer targets during the summer.

Assistant manager Keith Millen will be in temporary charge for Saturday's trip to Arsenal.

Bookmakers' odds had tumbled as speculation over Welshman Pulis' job intensified.

The remainder of Pulis' coaching staff - including Gerry Francis and Dave Kemp - have been asked by Parish to stay on for the Arsenal game before leaving the club.

Pulis wanted to assume greater control of all football matters at Selhurst Park - especially transfers.

It has been the role of Parish and sporting director Iain Moody to deliver the players that Pulis earmarks.

Moody joined from Cardiff City in November where he had held a similar role before being dismissed by the owner Vincent Tan.

Palace signed Liverpool full-back Martin Kelly on Thursday, while striker Fraizer Campbell arrived from Cardiff for £900,000 and former Fulham centre-back Brede Hangeland joined on a free.

Terrible decision. sole reason they stayed up. Wouldn"t be surprised if they get relegated.

hopefully they're in total disarray come saturday...
that being said, he saved them last season, let's see if whoever is in charge can do the same this year.

His transfer record is absolutely hideous though, no wonder they didn't give him a massive warchest.

Wow. The season's worst decision before the season's even started?

I'm still not fond of Pulis but he's did fantastic job at Crystal Palace.

But i don't see them staying up. So make your maths. Which is the bigger loss. Not saying he should have been given full control but some compro could have been reached. But then again no i-t-k about what happened in the talks i just feel it is a massive setback for the club.

Power struggle, only one winner, the owner.
Don't like Pulis but he did remarkable with them last season.
Hopefully the team won't turn up on Sat.

Crystal Palace letting Pulis leave the club. You absolute f***ing mugs. Literally saved the club from relegation. Unreal.

Brilliant from our perspective, horrendous decision for Palace and everyone associated with the club.

Begrudgingly have to admit he was a miracle worker last season in the way he kept them up - hell, he even helped stop Liverpool winning the league!

I honestly don't see them staying up this season but it depends on who replaces him. If they decide to go with Tim Sherwood, they're most certainly getting relegated. If they decide to go for someone fairly competent (Mackay?) they might just stay up.

Inb4 they go for Moyes.
