Justice is swift. Plus it was a fairly low level crime with a penalty of less than 6 months in gaol so it could be dealt with at the Magistrates Court. Plus he pled guilty which always speeds things up.

Pathetic.

He’ll be out in about a month with a tag.

And have lost his job, with a conviction against his name for the rest of his life.

Swear some people want to see others lives ruined. Dude swung a punch, same thing dickheads do outside clubs every weekend, this just happened to be to someone half famous and caught on tv. It’s assault and he got punished for it, what more do you want.

Ridiculous punishment

Out in a few weeks and next time he or someone else might have a weapon cos this punishment will stop nothing

I don't want to see the guys life ruined, but you have to set some sort of strong punishment with fans running onto the field and attacking players. Cause next time it could be a stabbing instead of a punch. And then everyone is going to be livid that previous attackers weren't punished more. Definitely is a fine line here.

Remember Monica Sellas?

Talking to my mate today who’s a copper.

He says he’s lost count of how many times he’s been punched in the face, and none of the perpetrators got such a high sentence.

What a sad thought. Here’s us thinking it’s a paltry sentence, when in reality it’s quite a stiff one!

No wonder we have so much violence in our society.

I’ve heard about her and what happened, the tennis player right? But no I don’t really know too much about it.

Doesn’t really matter, it’s about perception. I think for a normal person, any threat of jail whether it’s 14 weeks or not, is threat enough. I doubt you’d stop some absolute loon (which you got to be to actually stab someone) regardless of the length of sentence.

Also, should a weapon be involved then the sentence would be much much greater, you can’t punish this guy to make a point and account for those who may bring a weapon. As said above, this is already quite a severe punishment comparatively for what he did.

Monica Seles, one of the best players at that time if not the best facing her biggest rival the German Steffi Graf in Germany

Gets stabbed during a routine pub tournament Tennis have all the time when its not Grand Slam time. The c*** who did it served no jail time cos he was deemed psycho which was ridiculous

Paved the way for a generation of crowd members to run on to sports pitches

Something needs to be done and 14 measly weeks doesn't cut it

The guy is to impulsive and a danger to society, he probably is a nonce or could be nonce because he clearly has little control, he should have done a year minimum.

Also the damage he could have done if he could throw a punch would have got him banged up for a lot longer than 14 weeks, why be let off on poor execution when the intent was there.
