born and bred in Germany, playing for the german national team and totally identifying himself as full-fledged german, that's 100% German to me.

oh right. Kris Commons born and bred in Nottingham, England but plays for Scotland national team. What nationality is he?

I'm pretty sure if given the option he would've chosen England though

Just like i am sure if Turkey had a better team than Germany, Bug Eyes would have opted to play for them instead.

Its down to the individual as to what nationality he or she chooses (as long as there is some sort of link to said contry!), its not for anyone to tell them what or who they are. IF Afobe wants to play for Nigeria because of his Nigerian heritage, it doesnt make him any less English either, seeing as thats where he was born and raised.

If some of the logic displayed in some of the posts here were put into practice, some kid born on holiday would be forced to have the nationality of wherever his parents decided to get away to!

What bracket would Owen Hargreaves fall into?

Born in Canada, English parents, brought up in Germany.

Discuss.

Always a good debate, I was "created" in Holland, born in London, and come from Scottish heritage on my Dad's side and Irish on my Mum's side. That said, going back, all the family have been London since the year dot.

I've got a Scottish surname Image but I'm English through and through, you can't be much more English than being a Londoner! My Dad was born 200 yards North of me, and his Dad the same beforehand.

To sum it up :
Kris commons is english, but he's such an average player he had to run to scottland to have a chance to taste international football.

"Bug Eyes" is german. no doubt about it.

SE13 is a londoner with an identity problem. Probably one of the reasons why he supports arsenal. ;)

And pop goes the bubble.

Revolting filth, it was always going to happen sooner or later.

Oh well Spuds, youre bound to qualify for next season.....

No?
:dontknow:

Oh well then, all your fans had better go back to making sure theyre not working Thursday evenings..... :sneaky:

I quite fancy Spurs to finish fourth again to be honest.
