All things Man United

- Appalling financial situation
- End of the golden generation - Giggs, Scholes and Neville (harhar) probably won't be there to bail United out by the end of the season. Doesn't seem like Ferdinand will be able to go the distance of a whole season either. Van Der Sar won't be there either.
- No replacements. I mean Anderson? Seriously?
- Do they have the money to buy the replacements?
- Top players are leaving beyond the manager's control.
- They don't seem to have the attitude to close out games anymore.
- Very leaky defence this season so far.
- Absolutely no creativity in midfield.

So, all hearsay? Media hype? Will United get to January, buy reinforcements, go on a season long unbeaten run to win the quadruple?

Personally, I don't see anyway out of this for United unless they are bought by owners comparable to Citeh.

DISCUSS.

It seems like their world is falling apart at the moment, but it would just be too good to be true for me. I think they'll pull through somehow unfortunately.

It would be too good to be true.

It would be like Spurs getting relegated (again).

At least we can enjoy it while it lasts.

This.

Although having said that I can realistically see us finishing above them this season (injuries permitting).

Been saying it for the last 2-3 years, the signs have been there that long, when they sold Ronaldo and brought in Owen and Valencia confirmed them.

Their interest payments are £40 million per year, that is what their transfer budget used to be

They no long buy established stars, they are buying youngsters with potential so they have some sell on value

All signs point to going downhill, but they'll pull through, somehow.

Kinda makes all those folks that questions Wengers youth method rethink their questions.

How will they pull through though?

They have an £800 million debt that is GROWING, not being reduced like ours and they are losing £100 million a season

Half their squad is going to retire soon, do they really have the money to spunk £20-£30 million on fully experienced ESTABLISHED players?

In 2014, when the banks call in their loans, what are they going to do?

Refinance? Will they be able to refinance?

They have been going downhill for a while. I kept saying last season that I was amazed they were doing so well with such an average squad, and it was basically Rooney bailing them out time and again. Now Rooney is off form and is on his way out, they are a mediocre side. Ferguson has invested heavily in youth (I believe Anderson and Nani were both 17m+) and none of them have been up to it, he is no Wenger that's for sure.

On the other hand you can never write them off, he can pull rabbits out of a hat. They might sign 3 quality players in January and look better than ever. I despise Man U but I'm a bit cautious about celebrating their decline at the moment.

Man Utd have been in worse positions than this before and still won the league. Unfortunately you just can't write them off. They won't miss this seasons Rooney as he hasn't been playing that well. Like I said though, they've been in worse positions and always just end up getting better so Rooney probs won't even make a difference.

You just know there is a Shiek out there somewhere waiting for the chance to piss away his fortune though... and with the global brand that is Manchester United, they'll surely find somebody to come in and payoff the debt and run the club the right way again.

That's all it would take. Just a buyer to pay off the debt and run the club in the black and with all the money they bring in they would be able to start spending on players again.
This space used to be more fun...

Just like the same way the local government at Madrid did some years back.
"Bought" the stadium from Real, wiped out all the debts, and "leased" the stadium back to them.

Can't believe it'll make no difference.
Remember who they're left with up front, Barbie and Michael "I make RVP look like he's never been injured" Owen.
They'll HAVE to buy someone in the January window and it won't be easy to find quality in January.
Losing Shrek, Tevez and Ronaldo in a fairly short space of time without replacing them could be very costly, especially if you take into account Van der Sar's form.

I know they have a few good kids coming through e.g. Macheda and that English bloke but still...
