Would love to give this kid a chance in the Carabao Cup games this season. Still very young but those games are expendable and he has an impressive nose for goal.

Arteta is a checkbook manager so he doesn't care.

We can't offer him a professional contract before he turns 17. Obi-Martin is one of many 16 y/o players who leave their UK club to sign a professional contract in the EU.

From the player's point of view; one serious injury or health-related issue and your career could be over before it has even started—and you risk spending the rest of your life living from pay cheque to pay cheque.

Sign a professional contract at Bayern at 16 and you'll have earned £150-300k by the time you're 17, which is a lot of money for 99.99% of these players and their families.

Selfishly speaking, as an Arsenal fan, it's yet another beautiful by-product of Brexit. Frustrating, no doubt, but there certainly is an ethical discussion that can be had about clubs offering professional contracts to children in their teens.

I am sure something could be sorted out to keep them. ;)

Chido turns 17 in November, which is 4 months away. I don't think Brexit rules are the issue. Nwaneri was in the same situation and signed a pro contract in March on his 17th bday.

The rules around offering a professional contract are not the issue

He wanted a clear route to first team football and Bayern have a better track record of offering that.

People underestimate how damaging Arteta's false promises have been. You can't block players from going on loan telling them they will get game time in cup completions and then expect them to be happy when instead they make the bench a few times.

People are not stupid they know Arteta is a liar and a breaker of promises, why should they waste their time waiting for a chance that will not likely happen? Sooner he goes the better.

I noticed this during the Willock sale. He was a good CM coming off a very effective loan spell in the PL. What does Arteta do? Gets rid of him and signs Viera and Lokonga for £55m combined. Both flopped and are pretty much out of the team.
