I just realized....if Utd don't sign De Jong after wasting all summer chasing him.....would that open the door to an eventual Ten Hag sacking later in the season? He only seems to want Ajax players, and they've spent ~£ 60m on Martinez and Malacia, not so much that the suits would feel the need to give him a whole year. Especially with Poch still jobless and clearly hanging around waiting for a Utd call.

West Ham 0-2 City

Haaland with a penalty and a goal, looking like a top signing already.

Him and Nunez with two goals already, neither seemed to need to get use to the English game.

Isn't there claims that on top of the £50m release clause, that City paid more than €150m in agent & signing fees on top of the £500k a week contract.

City have shifted a lot of players this year for sizeable sums which would suggest the claim from La Liga that City will spent €100m a year on Haaland is probably not far from the truth.

Just shows how much of a farce FFP was and is.

FFP maybe a farce but the Haaland deal isn't suspect IMO. 500k PW is less than what the combined salaries of Jesus, Sterling and Zinchenko were. Their exits also put £125m in City's pockets, which can pay for Haaland fees as well as Alvarez.

Bernardo Silva might be leaving as well, that would bring in more fees and take another big earner off the wage bill.

Fee was 51 million, 85 million when agents fees and signing fee etc are added wages are reported to be around 18 million a year

85 million isn’t bad, every player has wages it’s just that his are very high, we paid huge wages to Auba and a few others.

Haaland looks a very natural finisher, think he’ll score a lot of goals and this will look like a bargain in time given his age.

Not a bad start for us. Top 4 isn't so far fetched. Utd and Chelsea aren't looking strong at all. We should be able to make it.

We need to take advantage of the instability at both United and Chelsea and also our winnable run in:

24 out of 30 points should be the minimum expectation first 10 games.

Palace (A) - Won
Leicester (H) - Win
Bournemouth (A) - Win
Fulham (H) - Win
Villa (H) - Win
United (A) - Draw
Everton (H) - Win
Brentford (A) - Win
Spurs (H) - Draw
Liverpool (H) - Draw

Agreed. Us and Spurs improved, but Chelsea and United took huge steps backward and their futures look pretty uncertain. We've been gifted another favourable Top 4 race.

Not sure re. Chelsea. They're still very active in the market and their squad remains stronger than ours imo.

If they sign Fofana and De Jong that bags them 3rd imo.

Mendy

Silva -- Koulibaly -- Cucurella

James -- Jorginho -- Kante -- Chillwell

Havertz -- Sterling -- Mount

Bench: Pulisic, Gallagher, Broja, Kovacic, Azpilicueta, Chalobah, Slonina, Ziyech
