Unfair trials

Among those put to death on 12 March, Ms. Bachelet said she understood that 41 were Muslims from the Shiite minority who had taken part in anti-government protests in 2011-12, calling for greater political participation.

Another seven were Yemenis and one was a Syrian national.

“Our monitoring indicates that some of those executed were sentenced to death following trials that did not meet fair trial and due process guarantees, and for crimes that did not appear to meet the most serious crimes threshold, as required under international law,” she said.

The High Commissioner also expressed concern that some of the executions appeared to be linked to the on-going armed conflict in Yemen, between Houthi rebels and a Saudi-led coalition, backing the internationally recognized Government forces.

How about reporters pose this question to the English FA, and the PL execs? The fatcats that actually signed off on a murderous despot owning a PL club.

Yeah no shit. Worked back in '06 too when Man City were sold to a corrupt Thai leader that stole his nation's wealth.

Pretty apt.

I am sure she can't help it, but if you were to imagine a face fit for the evil of the Saudi regime, it would probably be the person they have installed as CEO:

Yikes.

She's the love child of Katie Price and Rodrigo from Big Brother.

And she always has an expression like she just sat on a big carrot.

I get "Kathleen Turner in Serial Mom" vibes from her face.

Hilarious performance by an acting legend BTW.

It's good that there is a proper process for uncovering and punishing players for this.
It gives confidence and makes it clear to other players that they run a serious risk if they break the rules.

Same as Toney. UEFA should encourage local FAs to take a uniform approach to this so gambling among players is stamped out.
