I would have thought the PL would have a least some ethical standards and have some kind of process for approving owners of clubs in their league - but I guess if they accept Abramovic, they'll accept anyone.

Not just football. Half of the country has been sold off to foreigners. Doesn't the middle East own half of the land in London and many other cities?

Unfortunately, you are correct.
Now football is accomodating the man in charge of Saudi Arabia, the man who was in charge when Khashoggi was kidnapped and murdered by the Saudi govt because he was critical of the regime.
I am sure our football journalists will be extra nice just in case. :hiding:

What's next? The Donald buying a club???
Knowing our luck that will happen and he'll buy us. :shifty:

Or maybe Prince Andrew can lead a 'consortium' and buy Villa for William? :shout:

Football heading further down the shitter.
Bad enough we have a Russian mobster in charge of one of our clubs... but that obviously wasn't enough stench for football. They needed to add more.

It's been confirmed

Newcastle title winners 23/24 as mbappe scores 35 league goals

Meanwhile at arsenal, some fans happy with midtable

Migrant workers treated appallingly, women treated like chattels, people having limbs chopped off for minor crimes, public executions on the rise, Shia Muslims hung with whips.

Will Newcastle players still take the knee?

Very good point.
The absolute hypocrisy of taking a knee when the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia is your clubs' owner.
If they really cared about bigotry they would refuse to play.

Are England NT players taking the knee over the UK's atrocities in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and elsewhere?

Perpetual warnings in the state-run media about hook-nosed Jews plotting to take over the world. TV actors wear blackface and playing stupid black characters for a bit of light entertainment during Ramadan. Southeast Asian and South Asian workers used as slaves. Shia Muslims locked up – or strung up on a whim. Homosexuals tortured and killed.

But yeah, take the knee and the money.

It won't be lost on fans - it's going to be rather awkward for the sycophants on Sky Sports at the next Newcastle live game

I would imagine that the taking the knee nonsense is going to fizzle out pretty quick - maybe replaced with some beheadings of journalists instead to start a game.
