Pellegrini wasn't exactly top tier but knew his limitations and got the squad players playing as a team without all the shenanigans of Guardiola
Pellegrini was also all class.
Even after knowing he would be replaced he did what he could professionally. No question class guy.
I respect Pellegrini not just for winning the league in his first year, but also as you said, handling the news of his replacing with integrity.
Most of all, he kept his promise to Caballero and motivated him to become an excellent 2nd choice keeper; his saves basically won City the League Cup. Given how much of a disaster Bravo was the following season, Pep also relied on Cabby to get them enough points for a CL place.
