I pray for Gallas Return. He has been immense since his captaincy was taken away. This man is huge loss for arsenal defense if he is done for the season.

A good result, we should be able to go through now. Shame about Gallas, it seems that for every returning player someone has to get injured.

Confirmation of the suspected injuries:

Wenger wrote:
'These young players always find an answer'

On securing a vital away draw…
“Both teams played well at a high tempo and in an offensive way. Villarreal started stronger than us and the early goal made it very difficult. But In the second half, it was a great response and we took over. It puts us in a great position, but we want to qualify at home and to repeat the type of performance we did in the second half.

On the chances of progressing in eight days time…
"I am confident, [because of] the quality we have shown added to the mental strength and desire we have shown. But we know Villarreal are a good team as well, so we will be on our toes and focused at Emirates. We have a little chance to recover some players who are out as well. But before that we have a big game at Wigan and we need not to lose other players."

On the character shown by his young side to bounce back…
"This team has shown the whole season they are mentally very strong and when they have back to the wall, these young players always find an answer which is very interesting for a young team. I believe we have created momentum. We are a very young team, but are able to focus. We have shown with the consistency we have in the Premier League that we are able to concentrate every three days, and at that age, that is a big quality."

On Emmanuel Adebayor’s spectacular volley…
"It was a great goal, but it was a great game as well. [The goal] was unexpected. At the start his body was a bit in the wrong position to score, but he managed to turn that into an advantage for him. After we had many dangerous situations where we could have scored a second goal."

On the injuries to William Gallas and Manuel Almunia…
"With Gallas, it looks quite serious and could be medial knee ligament injury. We will have to assess it. I am not a doctor, but the first signs do not look too good. Manuel is a reoccurrence of an ankle injury, which probably will be a couple of weeks."

Fabianski in goal for a couple of weeks?

Really like him but Almunias form this season has been nothing short of spectacular, he has massive shoes to fill.

Adebayor's goal was a peach. We can grind a result out of them at the emirates. I just hope senna leaves his shooting boots at home.

Crap 1st half we really looked out of sorts & all over the place, plus with the added pain of conceeding, i did say Senna needed to be kept quiet earlier in the day yesterday, beaut of a goal, credit where due.
Losing Almunia & Gallas wasnt good, but Fabianski did well, excellent double save just after he came on & Johan did the job too, so im not nervous if we start with both those players in the return leg.

2nd half thankfully we upped the tempo, Clichy was here there & everywhere, Kolo worked his socks off made some good clearances, Very nice goal from Ade.

Happy with the 1-1 & confident we can progress to the semis in the next leg, which increasingly looks likes Porto after their 2 away goals last night. ;)

I really want Porto to come in and beat United because they deserve it and we all hate United

How much do you think we can beat Villareal?

These guys are tough to crack....I can see a 0-0 draw, with us going thru on away goals...

By the way, in our last 6 Champions League games, we've scored 3 and conceded 4.....should be doing better...

That was a good game....
First half was Villarreal's and the Second half ours. 1-1 was a fair result.
Glad we got that all important away goal.... It will come in very handy in the next leg methinks.

Aside from the 5-2 win against Fenerbahce, we have been poor away from home in the Champions League this season.
Maybe United would be a better for us in the next round? (should we get through of course)

id prefer to play the mancs then the portugeezers !! think we can score at the theatre of muppets , they suddenly look very shaky at the back and have leaked in goals in their last three home games .
