I've heard of a couple of cases. One where the ball was right up in the blockhole, and the batsman got to the ball, but it squeezed under with the power of the delivery, and to stop the ball rolling into the wicket, he hit it a second time and was given out. Another was a big top edge, and as the ball was coming back down virtually on top of the stumps, it was hit a second time, again resulting in a finger being raised.

Thinking of fingers being raised, umpire Billy Bowden still makes me laugh!

You have to kick the ball from hitting your wicket, but hitting twice is the hardest decision for an umpire to give in most cases it happens when the ball is killed playing a defencive shot. also handling the ball is another beauty because ifthe ball hits your glove when your hand is off the bat your out.

Quite true, but very bizarre, after all you can be given LBW for the ball hitting the boot. I suppose it's because the natural reaction would be either to hit it a second time or palm it away.

Sit yourself down, grab a few beers, and take in a day at a test match. They do it much better abroad, especially the West Indies where they take a BBQ and a fridge with them! In England it's slightly more refined, plus we have H&S regulations, ground regulations etc etc to follow. Abroad, it's far more fun. But it's equally as good watching from home on the television.

And when England supporters go abroad watch for the "Barmy Army". Beats me how some of them can find enough cash for an entire five match series in Australia, plus the interim period, plus travel plus accommodation each Ashes series, but they do!

Do you mean baseball and basketball? Basketball I agree with, but baseball is ace.

I can understand why non-yanks wouldn't like it though, it bores me too sometimes, you have to know the game and the history to enjoy it.
