Usual thing, just nominate your favourite/best openers from Australia.

In your lifetime or all time, it's up to you.

you'd draw every game then mate.
by average that team would make 999 which with his SR would not only take about 4 days but you wouldn't be bowling any side out either.

IN all seriousness, would go for Steve Waugh to bat in somewhere in the first 4.

I do think that some positions are going to fill without even bothering with a thread, however.....

M. Taylor

M. Hayden

not sure why i was of the opinion that border was an opener who was converted to a middle order bat, from checking scorecards he seems to have always been a middle order bat. i'd say he, waugh and ponting would walk the 3,4,5 positions without a poll, gilly, warne and mcgrath too, possibly lillee as well.

they do lack top notch openers though, imo. i initially chose taylor and switched for lawry but i could take either. taylor only averaged 43, then i guess he played in one of the greatest eras for bowlers: walsh, ambrose, donaldo, pollock, wasim, waqar, murali etc.

i was loathe to add hayden, great stats and average, but he never faced his own bowling attack (the best bowlers) and at his prime he just missed facing the lethal bowlers mentioned above (apart from pollock and murali) the rest were all but past it.
