Teams of the Decade

thought it'd be interesting to compile an XI for each individual nation based on players who have played for that country within the past decade.
be good to see how strong certain sides could be if they had have had certain players playing together at the same time.
select an XI for each country from players who've played within the last 10 years, note: you're selecting each side based on the players form shown within the last 10 years. so although a great player may have still been playing 9 years ago, he may have been near the end of his career and might not have been on the form to make the 'Decade team'.

England:

1. Trescothick
what a great player such a shame illness has stopped him playing internationally, england really miss and need him.

2. Strauss
top class batsman

3. Vaughan
who can forget that year in 2002, the worlds best batsman at the time, a classy batsman when on form.

4. Pietersen
no need to explanations

5. Thorpe
one of englands best batters in the last 20 years, stood up as a world class batsman during the mid/late 90's and early 00's when the rest of the team often crumbled. Averaged over 50 in his final year of test cricket and was so unlucky not to play in the ashes 05.

6. Stewart
a world class batsman who would have been a great if he were never given the gloves. went on to be a great keeper and remained a top batsman even with the gloves

7. Flintoff
'nuff said

8. Swann
need a spinner in there and swann has had a great past 2 years

9. Gough
god!!

10. Harmison
at one point the number 1 bowler in the world in 2004, destructive on his day

11. Hoggard
a great, reliable work horse

It was very hard to leave Atherton out, but he retired relatively early in the decade so wasn't in the peak of his career that he was 15 or so years ago. still a great batsman when he retired and could get in the side, but as he wasn't in his peak in this decade he just misses out to the other batsmen.
