Something on the news just now, I didn't catch it properly, but the words "has announced his retirement" were prominent.

More when I hear it.

That's a shame.
I was hoping to hear the words ".....Ponting"

"....stupid face smashed in by a woman.....apparently English"

With the way the ODI series is going it would be much more likely to be

".....Strauss"

"....stupid face smashed in by a woman.....apparently English"

He doesn't like playing all forms of cricket or something and wants to concentrate on playing Test matches.

But they are quite different and have different strategies if you look at it closely.

Maybe he doesn't read the 20-20 game well enough. Australia didn't get out of the group stage at the recent international tournament. (Was it the World Cup?) It's popular with the public but it's just a thrash, quite often you might just as well toss a coin to determine the result.

Has he retired from ODI as well?

If he wants to concentrate on the test side of things, surely retiring from both the shorter versions makes sense?

He won't be playing tomorrow but he will be back for the 4th match in this series.

Fully respect the man. Twenty20 is an awful, stupid sport while Test cricket is the very nectar of life itself.
