FACT

ive sent out a fair few texts already just to remind them ;) (before anyone says anything i only respond, never start it, so the aussies ive sent txts to all sent me ones earlier in the series).

now mark waugh slagging off broads spell in the first innings as "i've seen better bowling get less wickets", grin and bare it fella, bad winners, equally as bad losers.

i hate ponting, but he's coming across quite well in these interviews.
ill reserve the hatred for these muggy commentators disregarding our win. accept it lads.

Cheers fella!

I've been "lucky" enough to be off on the sick for the last half a dozen home series, can't think how that happened...... (Though the last two haven't been faked) I nearly got sacked in the Australia 06/07 tour for staying up half the night and turning in late.

I'm with Adam (ozgooner) on this one, The Ashes are just totally unmissable, it's the oldest cricket rivalry around, and regardless of what happens in South Africa in the next series, The Ashes is the series that counts for everything.

My take for this one, I didn't think we could get a result after Leeds, but the suggestions early were that it would be a spinners paradise. Australia misread it, lost a very crucial toss, for some bizarre reason dropped Hauritz and that was the key. Broad, who I have criticised over and again in the series came good with one of the best spells I have seen, backed admirably by Graham Swann.

Fourth innings, and Australia were never going to give up, and applause to them for a terrific effort. Ponting dug in, I thought Hussey found his form and I didn't think we'd ever get him out.

Another brilliant series, 16 months to wait for the return leg, but for now, I'm loving it!

Hopefully ozgooner can give us a lowdown as to the pitches over there in 16 months, and a few guides to the grounds.

For now, it's time to crack some beers open, get the open top bus out, visit HM at Buck House, and parade around London with The Urn.

Quick mention for Ricky Ponting. If this was his last Ashes game, then thanks for the memories, you have been sublime, a joy to watch, in fact a privilege. I've seen some fantastic Aussies over here during my years, but Ponting has to be the pick of the bunch. I know he's been on two losing Ashes series as Captain, but the displays we have seen from him deserve a mention of their own.

Actually maybe worthy of a thread of his own....?
