1970, and Arsenal had reached their first ever European Final. Known as The Fairs Cup, which was eventually rebranded and latterly known as The UEFA Cup. Arsenal faced a daunting prospect in opponents Ajax of Amsterdam. The Final was a two legged affair, the first leg being played away. Disaster was to strike, as Arsenal found themselves 3-0 behind, and although Ray Kennedy pulled back a late goal, all seemed lost. Little were the Arsenal faithful to know how important that goal was.

The official crowd for the second leg was given as 51,612, but Highbury was packed solid that night. 3-1 down from the first leg, The North Bank and Clock End roared Arsenal on, and John Radford, Eddie Kelly and Jon Sammels all scored. Arsenal had won the game 3-0, the tie 4-3 and with it came their first European Trophy, and the first silverware for 16 barren years.

I did notice the other mistake but I thought that it might be an actual mistake rather than a deliberate one so, being full of discretion, I didn't mention it.

17 "barren years" not 16.

Thanks, I'm sure that the years weren't that barren.
