That was the case under Wenger. Right now, I think most Prem players would rather join other clubs unless we pay them big money in wages, or go for players like Luiz and Willian, who're looking for a cushy assignment during the tail end of their careers.

tbh if this guy is meant to be our DM then I have no problem with a gamble like this. IMO there are a plethora of the Kante (albeit lesser) type players out there and it's just a case of taking the chance to identify them.

Just 3 that have come out of nowhere in the last 5 years or so, I'm sure there are more knocking around in France/Belgium etc. All the above are good enough to play for us and fight for the top 4 at least.

Only thing is I'd like it to be a slightly cheaper deal since it's a bit of a gamble, Kante was ~7m iirc.

This would be a proper Arsenal signing remember when people like Toure and Ljunburg were signed, everyone was thinking who TF is that but they turned out well, I’d rather this type of signing that spending money on another Xhaka type player, which is basically Neves

He's under 20m EUR, so I'm not complaining. We are losing Guendouzi, Torreira, Xhaka + the loan guys. We need at least 1 midfielder coming in, and spending £40m on Ruben Neves would be a dumb way to do it. He's no better than Xhaka.

Lots of talk about Sambi being a 6, and that's where he has mostly played for Anderlecht, but from what I've seen his skill set is more suited to an 8.
