Central defence is by far our most important need, it's not even close. We only had 3 established CBs last season. One of them retired, one of them suffered a possibly career ending injury and the other had a horror season.

Meanwhile Ramsey won POTY and Elneny had his best season for us. CB is a much more pressing need

As our starting team, you can't really argue with it, full of established international talent, leaders, yeh theres no real flair players, but to be fair i'm sick of us being a weak team, I would definitely replace a few names if we had a bigger budget, but I think the team mentioned could win trophys.

Out: Ospina, Mustafi, Jenkinson, Chambers, Bielik, Mertesacker (retired), Jenkinson, Elneny, Wilshere, Cazorla (done), Welbeck, Campbell, Perez, Akpom and Asano. Estimated income - £40 - 50m

In: Lichtsteiner (free, done), Yacine Adli (Virtually free), Fellaini (free), Bernard (free), Abdoulaye Doucoure (£25m), Çaglar Soyunc (£30m), Bernd Leno (£20m) and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (£20m).

That will do us for this season to stop the rot. Adidas money will kick in next season so expect a marquee signing next summer.

Instead of buying an out and out defensive midfielder I think a midfield of Xhaka, SMS and Ramsey would have the perfect combination of strength, speed, technique and defensive discipline to win the league.

But no one can really tackle in that 3 and if we continue to play high line, we need a designated defensive player in CM like we used to have in GIlberto who supported Vieira/fabregas, also what we had in Famini who supported Fabregas/Wilshere/ramsey and Coquilen who supported Ramsey/Cazorla.

Milinkovic-Savic is a beast but he is attack minded and plays box to box (Ramseys role).

Elneny is a good squad player, it would be stupid to sell him.

Maybe Xhaka under Emery could be that player for us?

Better yet get Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria. Almost £100 million spent on midfielders ( isn't that what the wish list for ) but somebody like Torreira instead of Xhaka sitting at the base of that midfield would be perfect. You'd get that tough tacking defensive midfielder while still having the quality on the ball to dictate play from deep.

4-4-2 diamond perhaps? Obviously the fullbacks would have to bomb forward to provide width.

I dont think Torreira is a sit back defensive tackler type, he is like a stronger roaming playmaker from what little I have seen, like Seri but stronger but with less vision.

Defensively I think we would be no better than we are with Xhaka with him.

This would be amazing...
