Im not surprised. Their midfield isn’t great but we should be in there as well. At 35 mil he’d be a steal.

Even with our current train wreck state we could pull Depay, Thiago and Partey. Could transform us.

In an ideal but still somewhat realistic world, we sell the following players:

• Guendouzi - £25m
• Kolasinac - £10m
• Mustafi - £8m
• Sokratis - £5m
• Elneny - £5m

I'm not sure if they're the most realistic fees, given some of their wages, but £40m-50m in transfer fees for those five would be good business. On top of that, there's always the chance we sell someone like Maitland-Niles or Torreira to free up some more funds, but ideally I'd like to keep them both (and both goalkeepers).

If we sold those five, and had £40-50m to play with this summer, could we bring in who we need? Likely not. I guess a lot of what will happen depends on whether we win the FA Cup and qualify for Europe, which would probably free up another £15-20m or so. If we had £70m+ to spend then we're looking a little better, even if we're not able to go out and buy 3-4 genuinely top class talents.

Assuming we sold only the following, and kept the likes of Aubameyang, Ceballos, and Lacazette, we'd have the following:

Goalkeepers
Leno and Martinez—extremely strong here.

Full-backs
Happy to rotate Bellerin and Cedric on the right, and go all-in on Tierney on the left. I know AMN played there in the semi-final but can't see him playing here regularly if he does stay. If we sell Kolasinac then we'll need a replacement.

Centre-backs
Sokratis and Mustafi leave, which means our options will be Luiz, Holding, Saliba, Mari and Chambers. Some potential there but not too inspiring. We'll definitely need a big signing here, if possible.

Central midfield
Lets hope Ceballos stays on for another year at least to join Xhaka, Torreira and Willock, although if Guendouzi goes we're certainly a bit short here. Like in defence, we need a big signing here. Ozil isn't really worth considering, although Smith Rowe's form at Huddersfield is encouraging.

Wingers
Quite happy with our options here, given we have Pepe, Nelson, Saka, Martinelli and Aubameyang plays a lot on the left. Not an immediate concern.

Strikers
Let's hope Lacazette's form continues, meaning he and Nketiah will be our two options as our central striker in Arteta's system. I'm fine with that for now. Aubameyang can, of course, play here if need be.

So, to conclude this rambling, I'm hoping we can shift on some deadwood + Guendouzi to raise enough funds for a quality centre-back and central midfielder, and a bit extra for another left-back to replace Kolasinac. If we buy the right players then I honestly wouldn't be too upset if those were the only three signings we made this summer, if indeed we don't sell anybody else (and retain Ceballos).

For where we want to be, long term? I agree. Given our precarious financial position though, if we sign a centre-back and a central midfielder who improve the first XI then I think that'll be good progress for this summer.
