Are you paying ozil out of your own pocket?

Who gives a shit what hes paid

We can clearly afford it and hes our best player.

All top players are overpaid. Ozil isn't the first and sure as hell wont be the last

There is a lot of wekanesses still in the team, that haven't been addressed, selling ozil could sort them issues out and allow us not to play a system that relies heavily on getting the best out of one player.

If we spend big and do a Madrid and have phenomenal quality in every position surrounding ozil and in defense then great but the chances of that happening are very slim

But we wouldn't have sold him if we didn't give him the contract. He'd have left on a free so we'd still have those weaknesses and no Ozil

Mid table here we come

Oh ffs what good is Ozil if he has 5 good impactful games for us a season?

Time to move on and try something new.

Name 3 games this season where Ozil performed like a world class player?

I’ll even help you out.

1) Leicester home.
2)
3)

Over to you...

It's about as likely as selling Ozil and doing what you suggest. I doubt Ozil would go for too much these days, so the money we got for him won't buy too much quality. Any other talent like him or so called superstar is most likely going to want similar wages.

Just like Ramsey, Ozil isn't our problem.

I would love to see a winger in the January transfer window.
Pavon and Pepe are rumored, at the moment i don't know who I would prefer.

To be title contenders, we need one or two world class CB's. Skriniar would be an amazing addition imo. Or Manolas to pair up with Sokratis. Or perhaps Golden Boy winner Matthijs de Ligt.
A good midfielder would also be great; Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Rabiot, Naingollan, Frenkie de Jong, Thiago Alcantara, Tolisso or Brozovic. Some of them are not that realistic, but a man can hope and pray..

Xhaka = the biggest liability in that team imo
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

Can’t replace him yet, other higher priorities and in midfield xhaka can be somewhat useful

Would keep nacho or kola and put xhaka third in priority for new signings

As far as I’m concerned, Xhaka’s position is top priority as long as we plan to persist with Ozil.

The weaknesses of players like Ozil and Xhaka are noticed more when they are not placed in the right environment. Instead of shoehorning all your most talented players into a team, you need to ask yourself: Who adds more value to the team and build from there in order to maintain balance and get the best out of your most important players.

In this case, are we better off with Ozil performing at his best or Xhaka? for me, the answer is Ozil.

With that said, the most important job of the midfielders behind Ozil is/should be to limit the amount of defending Ozil has to do so that he can focus on what he does best. Xhaka, with his lapses of concentration, lack of pace, and inability to consistently provide a passing option for his teammates, will never be the answer we need in midfield given everything that I have said above.

If Ozil will not be in any future plans, then fair enough wrt Xhaka. We would need to play a flat 4-3-3 with actual threats on the wings for Xhaka to be truly useful imo

Still better than wenger's team of short arsed 'technical', 'not really a CM, not really a winger, not really a striker, likes to play in the hole' types.

Squad:
GK: Leno - Martinez - Iliev
RB: Bellerin - Chambers
CB: Papa - Calero - Holding - Mavropanos - Medley
LB: Mendy - Kolasinac
DM/CM: Torreira - Rabiot - Fornals - Xhaka - Guendouzi - Willock
Forwards: Lacazette - Aubameyang - Pavon - Welbeck - Nelson - Iwobi - Smith-Rowe

Possible first lineup:
Leno
Bellerin - Sokratis - Calero - Mendy
Rabiot - Torreira - Fornals
Pavon - Lacazette - Aubameyang

Buy:
Calero (10m release clause)
Mendy (the one from lyon, not man city obviously. Market value: 12m. could be bought for 25m maybe)
Fornals (17m release clause)
Rabiot (free)
Pavon (45m)
Overall: 97m

Sell:
Ospina (3m)
Mustafi (20m)
Jenkinson (2m)
Neny (12m)
Özil (25m)
Mkhi (15m)
Overall: 77m

Release:
Cech
Lichsteiner
Koscielny
Monreal
Ramsey

Renew:
Welbeck (a hard working backup striker. We can't afford to buy a new player in every position)

Loan:
Niles
Nketiah

The only kinda unrealistic transfer is Rabiot as other bigger clubs could be interested.
All new bought players should fit Emerys system
Big funds are cleared by releasing and selling many of our big earners
All players bought are younger than 25
We probably could need a better backup RB than Chambers but I didn't have a better name right now
