Arsenal win race for £16m Ben Arfa

Arsenal have beaten Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea to sign Lyon winger Hatem Ben Arfa, according to reports.
The Sun says Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has tied up a £16m deal for the Tunisian-born star.

The fee has risen after Ben Arfa helped spearhead Lyon's Champions League campaign, which ended in defeat at Manchester United.

Ben Arfa has recently broken into the French national squad after a series of impressive displays for the French champions.

Put this in rumours as this is the only link i have found that claims it a done deal.
God i hope so! Id be well happy if we got him!

This would be a good signing and it would be good to see wenger doing what 90% of the fans want by sending some cash.

I can't say I'd be unhappy!

Thing is, spending cash will bring rewards! The Title would more than compensate for money spent, but Wenger doesn't think that way....

If, and I say IF, this is the case then AW has kept to his words. Someone posted recently that he said he'd be tying up his targets within 2 to 3 weeks.
This kid along with Benzema are future stars of the French team so i'd be well happy with him :)

I'd be delighted with this but I'll wait till I see it in some more reliable sources before getting excited.

I want this to happen just because spending good money on a player which alot of top clubs want is a positive sign of intent and may shut up all the anti-arsenal media talk which is yet again looking to rock the boat.

In earlier reports, Wenger said that the squad would be added to within atwo to three weeks:

So this could well be true!

Not surprised at all, he really is a "Wenger player".

Now, do we use our remaining "big spend" on Kompany or Barry?

Myself, I would say Barry, as he is more versatile :sundae:

Maybe so but if we sign Ben Arfa (and there has been rumours for months that we will) we more than likely wont sign another midfielder. Our defense was all over the shop at times this season, so it stands to reason le boss would spend our remaining money on a CB.

i dont know anythin about Ben Arfa but he sounds like a good player, considering all the clubs rumoured 2 want him.
and although i have neva seen him live a assume Kompany is of similar high quality (just look at his footie manager stats hahahahahah).
i would be delighted if we signed these 2 players. real statement of intend from le boss and the board.

Thing is mate, Ben Arfa is a winger.

Flamini was a central midfield enforcer. So is Barry. AND he's got captaincy experience, AND he has played in defence on occasion.

There's only one choice in my book :trophy:
