Ever since Mertens moved to Napoli I've watched them regularly and always thought Diawara looked very promising when he was given a chance.

Somewhat similar to Ndidi, albeit not as dominant defensively/physically. He is slightly better technically, with his first touch and retaining possession under pressure. Also feel he has a better long pass on him.

Napoli's midfield was too stacked so he moved to Roma in order to play more regularly. Since his move I haven't watched much of his, but he does seem to very much divide opinion amongst Roma fans. Going by what they are saying, concentration seems to be his biggest weakness: this allegedly leads to unnecessary turnovers and him being more conservative with his passing than they'd like.

More concrete links today with him

€27m

I’d imagine he’s part of our plan B if we don’t pull off Partey/Aouar/Thiago

2 of the four with Soumare coming in as back l-up changes our midfield completely

Would make sense if Torreira is heading back to Italy.

If we get aouar surely he'd play CAM in front of xhaka and another (diawara)?

I think so, yes. I can't see him playing as deep as Xhaka and Ceballos did last season.

Something like:

Leno/ Emi
Bellerin - Saliba - Gabriel - Tierney
Diawara - Xhaka
Pepe - Aouar - Auba
Lacazette

I think we're going for Partey but as that deal is looking more and more difficult Diawara has come as an easy to get done deal especially if they'll take Torriera as a make weight.

Saw a Mirror report today that we've ended the pursuit of Partey and are looking at Diawara as the cheaper option.

Tbh I wouldn't mind just getting Auoar this summer if we don't end up selling enough players to get Partey as well.

I don't want us to get half good players anymore especially for a critical position like DM.

Actually as much as I think Partey is a great player I would rather like getting someone a little younger like Zakaria from Gladbach who is also fast, technically very sound and built like a tank (I know he's injured right now)

Arsenal have been joined by West Ham and Leicester in the race for Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara, claims LaRoma42.

It is claimed that a £15 million ($20m) bid may be enough to lure the Guinea international to England during the winter window.

We need a goalscoring AM/CM otherwise we may as well persist with Ceballos, Elneny and Partey.
