He can definitely run, is far from lazy, and is fantastic with both feet.

?????

Grealish is an excellent player, pace, strength, hard working and creative.
He is NOT worth 80m, of course.
If that is the price, forget about him - or swap him for Pepe!

£80m for someone who was poor before that last two games of the seasons. I guess having the game of your life against us raises your price tag . He had two goals and one assist since October ffs before the last two games of the season. Grealish isn’t that special and if we want to compete at the top we need quality players ready to be at their best every single week and we can’t take a risk on players like this

Grealish is great. Not £80m great obviously, but that's the English player premium. 10G 8A in all comps in a dogshit team like Villa means he could potentially double that playing in stronger teams where the burden of scoring and assisting doesn't fall on him alone.

Why do you just make things up?
Since October Grealish has 6 goals and 4 assists.

and here's the evidence.

I lost count how many chances he made that if Auba, Laca or even Eddie would have buried, rather than whatever championship level striker Villa had used upfront especially after Wesley got his serious injury last year. .

One of the best players in the whole league this season. Way better than Maddison btw.

£80m is the dumbest fee I've ever heard of.

The "English player premium" is also dumb, they want a Beckham, Gerrard or Rooney but the fact is some clubs are just fooling themselves just like Utd did with Harry Maguire, they either are or their not and Jack Grealish isn't.

Guys worth £40m at best, not even as good as Ramsey.

Questions here:

Do you think this English player premium will ever change?

Is there any hope that it might change ever in the next 5-10 years?

I ask this because i can see you here saying the exact same thing about another Grealish 2nd/3rd rate player (top class on form) in 10 years and the figure will be £800m instead with you claiming £250m is more suitable. ;)

True value in the eyes of English teams in this market went out the window a very, very, very long time ago.

Inflation reigns supreme.

Is he better than what we have? of course he is ... is he worth 80m? ... well if it makes us better then probably he is, who else can we buy for 80m who would bring EPL experience, would qualify as home grown, and is just 24 years old?

80m is a lot of money, but if that's what it takes then that's what we have to pay - there were endless comments on how "stupid" Liverpool were for paying massive fees for average players ... so how did that work out?

I think he's an obnoxious little shit, but that's just an opinion based on media and rumours, if Arteta wants him then get it done.

One of the worst things about the PL era is that most of our fans became finance directors.

Why does anyone give a shit about how much a player may or may not cost? If the club have the money to pay it, what's the problem. We get a very good player added to the squad.

Not even United are ludicrous enough to pay £80m for a player who'd struggle to get into their starting XI.

Remove his nationality and homegrown status and you have a player who's worth about £35m in today's market.

Because value for money directly influences squad quality and quality has a great influence on where you end up in the table. That, in turn, influences your transfer budget which allows you to make those big-money gambles every now and then.

It's also not reflecting well upon those who were/are responsible for recruitment that 4 out of our 5 last big-money acquisitions have either struggled with consistency (Pépé, Laca) or turned out to be a waste of money (Xhaka, Mustafi). The only player who, thus far, has lived up to his premium price tag is Aubameyang and he has entered the last year of his contract.

That's roughly £250m spent on players who, collectively, wouldn't command a third of that amount if they were sold. Sold? Yes because, unless Kroenke decides to Abramovic-type owner and starts sanctioning deals from his own pocket, the club can't just continue to spend £80m on good (albeit nowhere near world class) players without getting into serious trouble with UEFA regarding FFP.

Wouldn't you agree that—given the position we find ourselves are in—it's in our best interest for those in charge of recruitment to finally starting using the club's financial resources wisely? I mean it's, nota bene, the main reason we find ourselves in the situation we're in.
