He was give the option some years ago of joining Juventus - and he chose Salzburg on lower wages. Following that he had the choice between Man Utd and Dortmund. He chose Dortmund for lower wages.
Apparently the lad is a footballer more than anything else, and working with his father as an advisor he chooses the club where he thinks he'll be happiest.
His best friend is Martin Odegaard.
If we get into the CL next year, why shouldn't we go for him?
Stop it lol
Why is it funny?
We're in London, we have first class facilities, we can pay the transfer fee (the clause is £70m apparently), and a very decent wage. We have a talented young manager and a talented group of young players that will be added to. His best friend is here. There would be absolutely no pressure on him at all.
It is an attractive option for him. No doubt about that at all.
Yeah, I agree. And don't forget that he is only 21. He doesn't need to make a big time move this year.
Going by what Phil posted, it looks like game time is important for Haaland. Any big club interested in him will be crazy not to give him the minutes he wants.
In short, he can afford to make a big-time move this year if he wants and we will be low on that list of big clubs that he'd want to go to even if we qualify for the CL.
Yes, Odegaard is a factor that gives us a small edge but the factor that would elevate us to the very top of that list of big clubs interested in his services is how serious we are about getting back into the CL, winning the CL next season, and winning the CL for many other seasons after that. If we want to have even the slightest chance of convincing Haaland to join us, then everything we do from now till summer transfer deadline day will be integral. Performances, management, results, reputation, transfers, the whole nine yards need to be spot on. Anything less than that won't cut it, IMO
