Absolutely no excuse if Sp*rs get Conte. We’re pretty much in the same boat as them but we’re arguably better off because we don’t need to play in a third tier European competition midweek.

Arteta failed miserably last season and any board of directors with a modicum of sense would fire him if a good manager is available which it just so happens that there is
Ramsdale
(Turner/Hein)
White Saliba Gabriel Zinchenko
(Tomiyasu/Niles) (Timber/Holding) (Trusty/Kiwior) (Tierney/Tavares)
Odegaard(c) —- Rice
(Xhaka/Lokonga) —- (Partey/Elneny)
Havertz
(Jorginho/Vieira)
Saka Jesus Martinelli
(Pepe/Nelson) (Nketiah/Balogun) (Trossard/ESR)

Antonio Conte is reportedly set to join Tottenham, as the London club edges towards finally appointing a successor to Jose Mourinho. Thats bad news for us, I can't believe this club sometimes how fooked up, are we.

Do we trust the Arsenal board not to automatically reach out to Henry and Vieira (sorry, I don't know their exact managing records at present but, well, put it this way, I've never read anything along the lines of "Henry/Viera deserving of Premier League management") and bring them back as a "Dream Team"?

The old "great player = great manager" doesn't work out often. Although - and sorry if I take this thread too off-course - I'd like to know the forum's view/views on whether playing in a certain position - ie DMC/AMF/STC etc wherever those guys played (forgive the FM jargon!) lends itself to understanding the game more and therefore becoming a better manager? Or doees having less natural skill but being a better trainer/learner make a difference?

Unless Arsenal has become a team that the best managers - or even those on the next level down - would spurn as they would spurn a rabid dog, as Rowan Atkinson would say, what's stopping the board from acting now?

Sounds like Conte is only interested in teams that can shower him with money to buy success.

You mean like all the top managers?

Pep, case in point, the man has never managed a team that wasn't the most financially rich in their respective leagues (Barcelona, Bayern Munich, City).

Pep is a joke.

At least Tuchel and Klopp have to create a system, Pep trials weird systems for the hell of it.

Can't believe he choked that CL final.

Pep is a victim of his own hype, can't look magnificent unless he puts his own spin on something, in the back of Pepsi mind is of course what everyone knows he is only as good as the money he has.

Tottenham have called off talks with Antonio Conte about becoming their next manager.

The former Chelsea boss, 51, looked set to replace Jose Mourinho after Spurs' hopes of luring Mauricio Pochettino back from Paris St-Germain were dashed.

However, negotiations have ground to a halt and BBC Sport understands there is no likelihood of them resuming.

I have made the same comment about Pep - I agree with you.
Not a top manager in my eyes until he succeeds in a proper management job.

Tuchel and Klopp are proper managers, although very different. Tuchel's style is very boring, Klopp the opposite - but they both have proper track records.

If you read the reports about Conte and the Spurs job, they suggest he's bottled it because he doesn't think he can help them challenge City immediately.

Lmao look at you's all shitting themselves at Conte joining the spurs.

Never happening. When was the last time they got a top coach in the world? The closest they got is mourinho who is well in on a decline and even though he could have shit housed a league cup for them, levy shat it at the mere thought of lifting it few days before the final.

Conte is extremely competitive and would have asked for 200-300 mill to reshape thay squad coz it's garbage and levy would have baulked at that and ran. He would have guaranteed them trophies in next 2-3 years but perennial bottlers will always show their true worth.

Wish we went for him and backed him. He would have instantly got all of us to tune back in next season even without Europe.

200-300m?
Not surprised he was told to get lost.
That's about a decade of net spend. If Conte is admitting he can't improve Spurs then why would we want him?
We don't have 300m to splash around.

Sounds like Conte just wants to settle in on a fat pay cheque under a sugar daddy who will do the difficult part of his job for him.

Spurs have spent a couple of 100 mill on trash last few years. They've been as bad as us buying overpriced duds.

It just doesn't get mentioned a lot coz they sell fairly well, whilst we let all our big players leave on a fukin free.
