Expiring contracts: who should be on Arsenal's radar?

Postby Zenith » Tue Jun 04, 2019 9:48 am

If we take into account our modest summer transfer budget and consider the fact that we're also on the verge of losing all 7 of Cech, Monreal, Ramsey, Macey, Lichsteiner, Jenkinson and Welbz in the same transfer window for a combined £0, it wouldn't be unwise to consider bringing in some free agents—even if they're temporary stop-gaps to make up the numbers.

Below a list of players who will be free agents come April 2023:

Whom do you think we should be targeting, and why?

Rabiot (If not available Hector Herrera) and Brahimi. Both positions where we need some additions.
Given our tight budget, it only makes sense to make use of the free agents

Rondon would be a decent plan B striker for maybe 2 years. Rarely ever injured, strong, good in the air, and takes some nice free kicks. Would be an immediate upgrade over someone like Welbeck who is always injured.

We should target all of the aforementioned who play as centre-backs, full-backs or wingers. Sure, none of the players are exceptional (apart from maybe Rabiot), but neither is our transfer budget.

Making a move for Rabiot seems like a no-brainer to me. Or is there some reason that no one else has signed him up already?

Rabiot declining us also seems like a no-brainer

Rabiot and Meunier both worked with Emery, if he was a don coach as some are suggesting I would hope they might want to link up with him again, that would be fan bloody tastic

Doesn't Rabiot have personal issues with Emery? i read it somewhere before, something about him not using him enough at PSG.

Surely if Ramsey can get 400k a week at Juve, then Rabiot would want something similar.

I'd take a gamble on Balotelli on a 1 year deal, always liked him.

Many of them play in positions where we have shortages (centre-back, full-back, winger, central midfielder), which means most of them are worth having a look at.

Players available on free

Postby tweetstreet » Tue Jul 02, 2019 9:05 am

Because it arsenal and we’ve got Kroenke and not going to have much of a budget this year would any of these free transfers add to the squad?

The likes of Ramsay and wellbeck are off the wage bill so really anyone that can add something particularly in defence is useful to us. We desperately need centre backs and we’re not going to spend van dijk money on one

Said few months back we should have moved for him. Cheap & efficient midfielder.
