Considering Unai was the one that demanded we sign Lichsteiner and Suarez it wouldn’t surprise me.

Didn’t Alves publicly slag Unai off on a few occasions at PSG ? Struggled to handle star players, made coming into work dull and repetitive etc...

It happens. Pool did the same kind of deal w/ Divock Origi and Naby Keita.

Both were back ups / rotation options in areas they were ok in. Saliba is the type of signing we need to make, but immediately as our CB depth in quality is poverty right now.

We need defenders now, but if we have to loan him in back order to not miss out, then we should do it because he could become a top centre back down the line.

the only advantage of loaning a player back is not having to pay the transfer immediately , I think Chambers and holding will rotate one CB position next season and we wont see any CB signing other than this loan back deal

Saliba is 18. There is no way he’s starting for us or any premier league club for a few years.

Saliba turned 18 in March, he wasn't going to displace Mustafi right away even if he was here for 2019/20. ASSE's bottom line is that they aren't going to sell him without the loan clause. Since we badly need a CB, this is apparently the compromise we've struck.

Arsenal in recent hours have reacted to the Tottenham offer and improved their offer for Saliba. The French club will study both offers before deciding.

What money? We have none. Seriously, we need at least four signings, and spending half the budget on one player isn't going to cut it.

Emery wont give additional budget for these sorts of signings apparently.

We’ve matched Spurs’ bid and the player prefers Arsenal over Spurs

St Etienne wants a bidding war to happen though
