Apparently Ramsey was fine with leaving in January but we have decided not to sell.Ramsey might have been open to departing in January, however Arsenal feel his relative value to the squad for the rest of the season is greater than what they could recoup through a transfer fee and salary savings.
Potential suitors are now unwilling to pay the sort of money that would tempt the Gunners to part with their longest-serving player mid-campaign, thought to be around £40m.
Also linked with Denis Suarez and Kroenke doesn't want to spend any money (imagine my shock)With no major departures expected in January and heavy investment in new signings and contracts over the past year, Arsenal do not have significant funds to spend in the upcoming transfer window.
Any permanent acquisitions, loan fees and salaries will be drawn from a modest budget and therefore loan deals are more probable, with out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, 24, among those under consideration. That budget is likely to increase substantially in the summer.
There have been conversations about recalling defender Calum Chambers and winger Reiss Nelson from loan spells at Fulham and Hoffenheim respectively, but with Chambers the chances are remote because breaking his season-long deal would incur a fee, while there is reluctance to disrupt Nelson's progress in Germany.
There is no indication Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will inject any of his personal wealth, which tallies with the club's managing director Vinai Venkatesham reaffirming their commitment to a "self-sustaining business model" during an interview with the BBC in October.
Kroenke providing external resources for player recruitment could also raise potential issues with Arsenal's ability to comply with football's Financial Fair Play rules and Premier League regulations limiting how much a wage bill can increase year on year.
Furthermore, the club are said to be realistic about their current capabilities relative to those of rival teams. This partly explains their commitment to young players and confidence in the talent coming through.
Although Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Liverpool saw head coach Unai Emery and the club hierarchy criticised in some quarters, there is an internal belief that they are moving in the right direction after a tumultuous period which saw Arsene Wenger leave as manager after 22 years in charge and numerous staff and structural changes behind the scenes.

Its time to accept where we are in the food chain. Europa league next few years is our only chance to cl. The club dont have money
Also keep his word in mind because our fans will accuse him of misleading them. He never said the budget in the summer will be big. Just biggee than than the winter one which is loans
Yeah, what does "substantially more" even mean? Sounds like a lot but is it substantially more than zero? Could be 40 or 50 mil again.
All this tall of building the youth really feels like we're trying to become a Premier League Dortmund of sorts. Can't help but feel worried by all this.
They talk like politician and feed Ornstein what their message. But if you read through their words they are basically saying we cant and wont attempt to compete with the top teams. As long as we have the highest tickets and fans are willing to pay we will work hard to decrease the wage bill which will mean we dont really need ~CL football in order to make money. Commitment to young players is bullshit statement. Last 2 games we had the likes of saka, nketiah and willock on the bench. They are there just to fill the bench with zero chance of getting in. If you are serious about young players you would play one instead of Lich. You would have given Ballard a chance instead of Xhaka as a CB. if the most promising CB in the reserve isnt a better CB than Xhaka, then not only does he has no future here, but there is no quality coming through
