France midfielder Houssem Aouar, 22, believes staying at Lyon this summer will prove to be the right decision after he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.(Telefoot, via Mail)

Never thought we'd get him and he seems like to have made the right choice.

We can just call him "Hungarian Dom".

What is factual, is that we identified the need for a midfield creator and that Aouar was our first choice for the role.

For whatever reason we were unable to achieve that objective but obviously the recognised issue still remains, hence the team management must deem the team to be currently deficient in the creative aspect.

I wanted Villa to get relegated so that we could go in for Grealish to fulfill that role but was then happy with Aouar as the alternative.

Our need to that end still remains, and looking to coast the team without that until the next window and go back in for our initial target might be a risk worth taking if we were getting Zinedin Zidane reborn.

And who knows, maybe all the other teams with ambition will kindly slip into neutral and wait for us to sort ourselves out instead of taking advantage of our lack of a vital cog.

Emi Buendia is not too dissimilar to Aouar with the added bonus of being EPL proven and likely to have the bigger appetite for success given his route to being where he is compared to the Lyon man, so I would be more inclined to take a chance on someone who'd love to come to us than someone who'd settle for us for the time being until Real Madrid say 'come, come'.

Arsenal remain keen on signing Lyon and France midfielder Houssem Aouar, 22, but face competition from Paris St-Germain and Juventus. (Tuttosport - in Italian)

No chance

The problem is that a player now sees staying at Lyon and waiting for a "big club" a better option than doubling his wages and committing to 3/4 years at Arsenal, no longer being a CL contender and not having the mega-bucks of City, Chelsea and Utd now means we are going to struggle for even this level of talent.

To sign players we are paying MASSIVE salaries, all that gets you is a bunch of mercenaries with about as much commitment as Balotelli ... that's simply not the right way to go, it took Liverpool 30 years and a whole bunch of mercenary dross to work that out, we must learn from their mistakes, not repeat them.

Don't see us signing him going forward. This past summer was the best—and likely only—chance.

Need to find other creative midfielders.

Sounds like the first is PSG because of FFP and the second is Juve because they're broke bitches who couldn't convince Lyon to do a swap deal.

Seems like PSG in the summer then.

Unless we get CL and somehow find the money to pay through the nose for him when we wouldn’t this year...

Lyon have dropped Arsenal target Houssem Aouar for Sunday's game against Reims as the France midfielder, 22, refused to warm down after being an unused substitute for their win over Angers. (L'Equipe via Mirror)

Looks like PSG are going to take Aouar - 2 goals and 2 assists in 630 minutes played ... not happy and looking to leave, just not to us.

According to TheAFCBell, who was the first to report the Thomas Partey deal -

Google translate: #Arsenal's bell understands that Arsenal are still in contact with Hossam Awar's camp.

The club has sent clear signals to the player and his family that Arteta intends to make Awar the core of the team

The club sees Hossam's characteristics as the key to a more effective offensive tactic

Google translate: The player's grandfather (on his mother's side) is part of the player's camp decision-making trinity, and he was one of those who welcomed Arsenal's interest last summer.

Hossam Awar's agent urges him to transfer to a club participating in the Champions League, or at the very least, a European competition.

Arsenal were the favorite player last summer

The story has the rest ...
