Heard any rumours? This is the place to discuss potential transfer targets.

He would have to be extremely tough to play that way in the PL. He would take an absolute shellacking.
Reminds me of Hazard, but Hazard was able to deal with the PL physicality. If Aouar could also do that then he'd be a great signing, but he could also end up injured for most of the season.

This one seems to be hotting up but I can see the problem here ...............

Apparently Lyon want £55m, we're going in at £36m, this will be a long drawn out bidding war and may end up fading out.

The player wants to come but if Lyon are stubborn on £55m then I doubt we'll pay it.

At 22, he has abundant resale value. We should definitely factor in that.

Even if he leaves at 26, and fulfils his potential, we might be looking at a €100m transfer. Kinda like Chelsea signing Hazard.

We sold half the team during the 2017/18 season to bring in Laca and Auba.

We should be looking to do the same to get Partey and Aouar. Bellerin, Holding, Sokratis, Kola should all be on the list.

I think we just want to get Lyon down to a fairly reasonable 45m, given they don't have any Europe and need to raise funds then they're not in the best bargaining position...particularly without any other bids.

Their owner is a bit of a cuunt though iirc.

Some Italian football pundit has claimed via Tweety that Aouar agreed personal terms two weeks back. Just down to a number being agreed. I'd guess if true we get him for 45m plus Kroenke's pocket change as ad ons.

Lyon won't agree to a Pepe-esque deal where we just pay £10m in advance.

They'd definitely want £25-30m in advance with the remaining £20-25m to be paid in installments.

As much as I dislike him, it's worth noting that Sanllehi initiated both the deals for Saliba and Gabriel as well as Auba's contract extension. Mikel, no doubt, had a huge say in Auba extending his contract.

It's now down to Edu and Mikel to actualize Aouar's recruitment. Let's see.

Atlético Madrid’s Thomas Partey and the Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar are their long-standing top outfield targets but would cost up to £130m in combined transfer fees and wages.

The Guardian understands Arteta would prioritise a move for Aouar if given a straight choice between the two but players must first join Martínez in departing.

Not sure WE have any credit left.

(Oldy but goody...I think Aouar is the little dude in the sheep skin five sizes too large!)

I've changed my mind on Partey .......... I want Aouar instead.

He can play next to a DM in a 2 man mid or at the head of a 3 man mid.

I wouldn't say no to Partey, but with 3 CB's do we need a slow Xhaka next to a deep playing Partey?

The reason our 2 man mid has been working is that Xhaka has Ceballos next to him who takes the ball when they are in trouble and can ball to feet go past 2-3 players with ball retention, is Partey going to be able to be that outlet?

Aouar can easily and he has a pass.

This would be a signing on the Ozil/Sanchez/Auba levels imo. I'm surprised we're actually in for him and seemingly the only ones atm, I think he's a level above where we currently are and could ply for someone already in the CL, so it would be a great catch.

Please make it happen Arsenal

Lyon are out of Europe completely next season, not even Europa ....... AFC must be looking pretty good to him right now plus we have a French contingent.

Apparently rumour has it he wants to come here.
