With that logic you can buy a cb, gk, dm from the sunday amateur league and still be happy.

Its about the quality that has come in. Concerned about leno and the cb we bought

But the bundesliga isn't a sunday pub team league. We're not talking about unproven players, these are players who needed a move to prove themselves. Lets see what emery can do with them before writing them off. They're probably watching videos of themselves and how to improve as we type if what i have read about emery is anything to go by!

Being a bit unhappy about the transfer window and who comes in doesn't mean we write them off. :dizzy:

Not if the stop gap is worse than a young player we just loaned out

Exactly.

Tbh we should've just gone f**k this and plugged the hole properly this summer with a 50m centre back. Rather than continually filling holes but never being quite there.

Dembele on loan and an extra 30m for Boateng over Papa would've given us near enough the best team in the league outside City. At the cost of an additional 40m, sure we could save that from next year's budget if we needed to.

Boateng Ridiculously expensive for a 29 year old CB, slow, short shelf life, poor resale value.

That's your view, mine's different. Either way you can replace Boateng with a 50m CB of your choosing :)

yeah boateng isn't worth that. It's a difference in opinion of course, which is why some of us are ok with the Papa signing and others arent.

I think the most important thing is that if it doesn't work then we don't get sentimental and we just get rid and try again next year.

Either way I think that by the end of this season we'll be in a good position transfer wise. If Guendouzi and Torreira are at least decent this season, then all we'd need to buy (probably with a 100m budget) is a winger and CB, which is doable. We'll have Chambers coming back from loan as well, which might be a very good loan.

And if Sokratis actually turns out to be a good signing then we have a whole 100m to spend on a world class winger

The window has been positive in the sense that we mostly got what we needed and got it done early.

It was negative in the sense that we didn't get a winger, and not enough quality at CB, at least imo.

Overall, I'm not really sure how to look at it.

Are we still going to have the January transfer window, or did they do away with that? I forgot?

We agree on one point which is very important that we needed a solid CB irrespective of the price :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif:

Decent Central defenders are not a rare commodity especially when you see how competitive various football leagues these days are, not just in Europe. I am happy with this window bar our CB situation. Hopefully we deal with it internally but we are unnecessarily putting pressure on a critical area of the pitch.

And to add to that last part, we are also probably trying to incorporate a new defensive strategy as well, so that will take time to learn and get everyone on the same page, which can add to that pressure.

But either way, bring on Sunday, I'm excited as f**k! :arsenal3:

Godin's agent approached United that his ward would like to join and prompted them to make an offer. Then the Agent used United's offer as a leverage to sign an improved contract worth £7.5m/year with Atletico ,telling United to feck off :rofll: .

The rumour on £50m budget looks more accurate than ever now.

If you look at the outgoings and incoming's it does actually add up to around £50m.

Maybe that's why we stopped dead on not getting a CB, any money for Welbeck etc if he's sold or the £4m from Perez is not going to get us that CB we need.

This does make the Callum Chambers loan a bit strange now, we have no Koscielny (who wants to leave anyway) so our starting pair is either Holding, Sokratis or Mustafi.

That is tragic quite frankly.

Also since when did CB's become this en vougue £50 - £80m signings lol, you should be able to sign a good CB for £30m anywhere, imagine Van Dyke being worth more than Aubamaeyang? :rofll:

Must have one hell of an Agent.

We bought a CB because Kosc was going to be out for half the season. Then we let chambers go and now only have Holding and Mavropanos as backups. God forbid Holding gets injured. We can all agree Mavropanos as the only natural CB left after that is criminal.
