Arsenal are also monitoring 18-year-old Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, who was in action for the Netherlands against England last week. (Mirror)

Wouldn't mind as long as we get someone more senior in at cb along with him.

Tbf Dutch league isn't the highest standard, so it's easier to stand out but tbf he's 18 so getting yourself noticed at that age is encouraging.

He's also been the captain when Veltman hasn't played.

I've never seen an 18 year old footballer as mature as him. I love watching Ajax play because they are full of exciting new talent but he is just levels above everyone as he's destined for great things.

I'll be very surprised if we sign him. I think he'll end up at Madrid or Barca eventually.

It's weird how the Dutch looked finished this time a few months ago but they've got so many young, promising talents now. Van De Beek, De Jong, Kluivert will all move on from Ajax to big clubs.

Isn't he a bit injury prone aswell?

Had a quality break through season but he seems very weak mentally and physically.

Sort of transfer we don't seem capable of pulling off.

I honestly think we can get this kid with champions league football if we pay up. I know people think he’s destined for Barca or Real Madrid but he’s only 19 and seems a smart lad. He could see us better for his development and stepping stone before he’s ready for the big Spanish clubs.

I’d be happy to pay 60-70M for him get 5 years quality service and sell him for 200M.

Not that I think it will happen though.
