Not really what we need. We need a creative midfielder.

Arteta denied any Arsenal interest in him in his last press conference.

Recommended him 3.5 years ago. :P

His skill set is quite similar to Partey's but, providing he's available for a reasonable price, I'd love to see him join.

Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge is the subject of interest from Arsenal and Tottenham - according to Jeunes Footeux.

The 23-year-old could be available for €26 million (£22m/$31m) in the summer transfer window if the Blades are relegated from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Spurs are ready to move for Berge, who has scored once in 13 Premier League games for Sheffield United in 2020-21.

Could be part of project Arteta - replace the whole squad to move up in the league.

Good player but not what we need when we already have Partey. We need a deep lying creative midfielder like Cesc or Cazorla. Someone who is technically impeccable and can switch us from defense to attack.

From what I have gauged, I believe Berge is more naturally suited to the DM role than Partey is, who to my mind is a B2B midfielder with decent to good defensive awareness so is able to fulfill what's required in that position competently enough, but in doing so is trading off some of the qualities displayed at Atletic that attracted us to him in the first place.

Put simply, in the midfield set up with a double pivot at the base of it, the Partey-Xhaka axis we're now accustomed to would with the addition of a specialist DM inserted, now have the Ghanaian replacing the Swiss which to me equates to an upgraded midfield.

Makes sense. But don’t you think we need a more creative player than Partey as b2b?

i think we need to have partey beside auaor and odegaard infront partey to me is someone like a fabinho who can win the ball and play great balls forward and has good composure and dribbling. maybe since berge is odegaards best freind this is artetas way of convincing odegaard to stay ?

Second choice: Bissouma + Partey

No, not really, I'm afraid that I don't, as I believe that the ability to recover the ball from in front of our goal alleviating danger, bring it forward securely to help set up scoring opportunities or better still finish them off, is governed more by efficiency and effectiveness than creative flair.

That more creative types play the role like Cesc and Santi were able I don't dispute, but same way as not comparing Ramsey to those two either although he too played that part.

The need of greater midfield creativity to the team I agree with and why I'd currently play both Smith-Rowe and Odegaard, but in future also add a Buendia to the mix along with a Berge or a Bissouma (both would be ideal to me) to free up Partey.

Current Midfield (All Inclusive)

Partey
Xhaka
Odegaard
Smith-Rowe
Elneny
Ceballos
Guendouzi
Torreira
Willock
Maitland-Niles

Proposed Midfield

Partey
Berge
Odegaard
Smith-Rowe
Bissouma
Buendia
Guendouzi
Azeez

Sheffield United are demanding £35 million ($49m) for Sander Berge despite their relegation from the Premier League.

Yorkshire Live says the Bramall Lane side will not let him leave unless his release clause is triggered.

Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa have all been linked with a move for Berge.
