Arsenal in ‘final stage’ of transfer talks to sign Russia midfielder Aleksandr Golovin

Arsenal are in the final stages of negotiations over a deal for CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to reports in Russia.

Sports.ru claim that sources close to the Russian club have confirmed that the Gunners are close to securing a £10 million move for the 21-year-old.

CSKA have asked Arsenal to keep the midfielder on loan for another year, while another alternative which has been suggested is that the player is immediately sent on loan to Hull City where he would link up with former CSKA boss Leonid Slutsky.

Golovin made his debut for CSKA in 2015 but this season has been his first in terms of regular playing time for the Russian club.

The 21-year-old is capable of playing in central midfield, as well as on the left flank, and was one of CSKA’s standout performers as the team finished second in the Russian Premier League this season.

Golovin registered three goals and three assists in 30 league appearances.

The midfielder has also been capped 12 times for Russia’s national team and was part of the squad for last year’s dismal campaign at Euro 2016.

haha you underesimate wenger. If its this guy vs teh henry kid, wnegr picks the am everytime. Even though henry onye kid got better goal and assist record and is better suited for the team. Wenger will pick the AM everytime not the goal scorer.

People talking smack. He's a good player. With Cazorla down and Wilshere dead, we need another AM. He can play multiple positions, is technically strong and young. For ten mil he's a very good deal.
