It's one of those at least we tried situations knowing full well we were never getting him.

I actually think they would of bought him for £92m.

Remember they would of had the money from the Ox and Sanchez sale of £100m without going in the red as we've spend fk all else.

Also the goal is getting back into the top 4 with spending zero so I think the idea was keeping Sanchez but when Sanchez turned up at Liverpool and was upset about staying I think Wenger panicked and didn't know if he'd get a good season out of a want-away player risking top 4.

The rumor is from Goal—that we've agreed terms for a January purchase.

This coincides with the general feeling that we are looking to sell Alexis for around £20-30m in January to City.

Where are you seeing this? I have been trying to find a source for your claim.

The only thing Ornstein has said that there were concrete talks and he had agreed to personal terms in July.

Where has Ornstein said about jan deal?

How about providing a link when asked for instead of a snarky reply to the other guy?

I saw the same article in the Sun, then it said "Quoted from the Daily Star".

So yeah not worth sh*t.

Arsenal are unlikely to continue their pursuit of 22-year-old Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar, having had a £90m deadline day bid turned down by the French club at the end of the summer transfer window. (Mirror)

So if i am right. Arsenal identified Lemar as a great player they were willing to pay 90 million. One of the most expensive players ever. And few months later they are not intetested in him. Did a scandal happen in his life that made them back off? Serious injury or great loss of form? Nope

2 logival explation and I know which i believe. Either they completely panicked and were ready to hand 90 million to monaco or it was a pr move to show they are willing to spend on big players to get fans of their back. Tell me if you am onna spend 90 million on a player and you have all summer. Why do you wait last min

I'd go with the PR move.

We're famous for making big gestures which we know don't have a hope in hell of coming off.

The one time we bluffed our way into a deal was with Higuain, when Madrid went "Ok then have him" Higuain went MIA from Madrid thinking it was a done deal and we pulled the plug ........ then we went after Suarez and pulled the £1 offer ........ oh what a transfer window that was.

It doesn't matter what we offer.

Scenario:-
You are a promising winger, who has a bright future ahead of him. For the sake of this discussion, let's assume you love Arsenal. You expect to be transferred there all window, with your agent receiving good messages from there. And then they bid 90 million

JOYFUL DAY! And then they pull out when it's accepted saying they don't think the agreement could be completed in time, even though you were willing to sign DAT TING, and they knew your demands.......

This club then comes for you in January. The question is, do you tell them to f**k off kindly or do you tell them to f**k off publicly?

I would prefer Goretzka, but I think Lemar would be better than Ramsey at least in our current setup.

Isnt Lemar a winger though? With Sanchez leaving next summer, he would be an ideal replacement.
