I honestly feel you guys and especially gooney are expecting too much. He's fast, he can dribble a bit (though more in the Gervinho way than in a Messi way) and he's got an eye for goal. His overall passing, ball control and vision isn't that great though, and he's still very raw. Could just as easily be a Miyaichi.

Also, I doubt he's getting a working permit.

Sounds like our typical signing then. He's coming!

If we don't buy this kid now in a years time or so a team like Dortmund will be getting 40M+ offers from the likes of City/Chelsea for him and you'll slate Wenger for failing to bring him in early on a cheap.

Players like Van Dijk, PEA, Lukaku etc could have been bought for peanuts by us years back and now we are looking at 50M+ for any of them, 7M is a small risk considering the potential.

Except he's got 24 goals and nine assists in 41 games in a top flight league.

22 goals, not 24 and in 38 games, not 41. 41 would also be weird since Eupen only played 40 league games.
And really, that's not a guarantee for success. There's plenty of players who got similar statistics and turned out shit.

Good gamble buy.

If he pans out great.

If he does not, small financial hit.

What I dont want is to use this kid as a signing excuse to not buy a proven WC striker.

This is an excellent project buy or an investment, that's all it should be.

Which "proven WC striker" would you like us to buy?

Already ahead of Welbeck in the pecking order imo.

Such a shame. Nothing to do wrong paying 7m for a promising talent. Either he comes good or you sell him for profit. Buying him is no brainer.
