They already have enough underperforming bottlejobs in their team. Why are they going to (re)-sign another, especially on the £350k p/w that he's on?

Arsenal are keen on Colombia midfielder James Rodriguez and could pay just £3m to Real Madrid to switch the last six months of his two-year loan at Bayern Munich.(Mail)

Smart move if true. James's Madrid deal is up in the summer and Bayern may not be totally sold on a full transfer. He's still 27 and would improve our midfield massively.

Not a pressing need but I would trade Ozil for James.

Rodriguez is 3 years younger and more explosive. Vision not as good as Ozil’s but still decent and he can actually shoot and do something out nothing. Basically he’s more likely to win you a tight game with a moment of magic than Ozil.

3M loan fee and his Madrid contract is up in the summer so would be available for free on a permanent deal.

His wages could be a stumbling block though.

This is not even remotely close to something that can be legit. We poor. Unless there is another James Rodriguez who is on 50 k a week I very much doubt he's being linked with then this dollar store club.

£3m plus his wages for 4 months is not a good deal lol. However if there was an option to buy at the end of the season included, it would be something to look at, at least

Isn’t his Madrid contract up in the summer?

No, James' contract at Real Madrid expires June 30th, 2021.

By then, he'll be 2 weeks away from turning 30.

Even if you do, he's the type Emery would never be able to manage properly. Another player who's all attack and doesn't like to track back.

As you can tell, Emery is a very limited manager and needs a certain type to excel. He can't cope with what he has.

Ah shit, it's true, Real extended the contract just before loaning him to Bayern:

The article also says he's on 10m EUR/yr, so another 200k pw dude.

Neymar*, Mbappe, Cavani, Draxler, Aubameyang beg to differ.

*He was doing fine on the pitch despite their supposed personal issues

Manage properly is the key word. Emery didn't "manage" any of those guys, save Auba.

Neymar ran the dressing room at PSG. Apparently, Emery had become a laughing stock.

Nasser had to intervene and he asked Emery to adopt the 4-3-3 instead of using 4-2-3-1 or one of his weird formations.

Ask any PSG fan. Emery's erratic subs, weird selections, and tactics are well known.

He has a specific way of working and if he's unable to, it gets ugly. His two biggest jobs have been the PSG and Arsenal jobs and he's had issues with most attacking players at both clubs.

Not a good sign.
