Arsenal are keen on signing £50m-rated Real Madrid star James Rodriguez this summer in a move that would smash the club’s transfer record.
Rodriguez, 25, wants to leave the Bernabeu after falling out of favour under Zinedine Zidane last season.

The Colombian moved to the La Liga giants in a £63m move after his stunning World Cup campaign in 2014 but he hasn’t seen eye to eye with Zidane since the Frenchman was made Madrid boss 18 months ago.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been linked with a move for the attacking midfielder but Arsenal have now joined the hunt for his signature, according to the Mirror.
Arsenal broke their club transfer record to sign Mesut Ozil in a £42.5m deal from Madrid in 2013 but they’ll need to break it again if they wish to bag Rodriguez this summer.
Madrid value the Colombian at around £50m and, ironically, the La Liga club will use the funds generated from Rodriguez’s sale to fund a move for Arsenal target Kylian Mbappe.

Signing James would be the biggest waste of money since that Ozil transfer which we should have spent that money on Higuain when Cazorla was still fit and in his prime, we'd have won the league and got Higuain for peanuts.

Oh well let's make the same mistake again another AM we don't need.

No shame in things not quite working out at one of the Spanish giants, Sanchez found himself in the same boat and he turned out great. Just a shame Wenger has utterly failed to build on the signing...

Showed me who he was in every final he's ever played. Bottled more than Evian.

A-grade bottler. If it weren't for that fool, Argentina would be World Cup winners (and Copa too).

We don't need a striker, we've got Giroud and Welbeck.

We need to sign world class players to convince Sanchez to stay. A striker should be the priority of course, but there's no point replacing Giroud just for the sake of it - what we need are players who will improve the team and convince Sanchez to stay, if at all possible.

If we sign a world class player, like James, we can show Sanchez we are ambitious, that we are moving forward, and hopefully he'll stay and we'll have a better team.

Or we can sign a striker who's no better than Giroud just for the sake of it, meaning we're no better upfront, then we lose Sanchez because we're not showing ambition, improvement, or even common sense. So in this scenario we're weaker, whereas in the previous scenario we're stronger - adding a world class player and keeping our best player.

Let's not forget after his first season where we won the FA Cup and came 3rd Sanchez said he wanted more - to compete for, and win, the big prizes. Anyone who thinks he'll stay by offering a bit more than much better teams coming in for him while signing dross is deluded.

Firstly, James isn't world class. He's far from it.

Secondly, his agent is Jorge Mendes.
