You would figure with what they are willing to spend, they would do much better.

I am guessing its more of an insurance policy if Aguerro goes down with injury.

I had the same reaction. I was expecting Pep to really rock the boat but Nolito, Gundogan and Sane dont exactly do that. Though I think Sane long term will be amazing. Right now, it's all a bit underwhelming.

So we criticise City when they spend money and now we criticise them when they make smarter buys?

Nolito is a great player for 14m, he will be a backup for the likes of De Bruyne/Sterling and is better than Navas although I think Pep will keep the latter too. He's spanish, will get on with the other Spaniards and fits into Pep's kind of player.
Gundogan if he can get over his injury troubles is a good buy for 20m or whatever it was, very good midfielder.
Sane, not sure if they're actually getting him but he will be amazing.

He will do better than that guy they signed from Swansea (keep forgetting his name) who has been terrible.

"...Sky Sports understands that Arsenal boss Unai Emery holds a strong interest in Sevilla forward Nolito. The 32 year old is seen as an ideal short-term signing for the Spaniard and the two have previously worked together at Sevilla. Arsenal also remain interested in a loan deal for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez, however the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement on whether any deal would include an option to buy in the summer. Sky Sports understands Barcelona value the midfielder at £20m."
