Is it personnel though? Bellerin, Kosc, Mustafi and Nacho is a good back four on paper, certainly should be doing a lot better than they are right now.

Its not a good back four anymore in terms of consistency thats what old age does to you. Plus not too sure about them being good on paper.
Nacho is 31 and a poor one on one defender. Bellerin is a poor positional defender. Mustafi and kosc as a duo do not fully compliment each others play styles, kosc mobility and concentration is lacking because of old age and mustafi is rash and not really that much of a great defender at the best of times, he used to be primarily a fullback before coming here for a reason. On paper its not a good defence.

It can be both and probably is.

I just worry that we'll spend money to get some good defenders and still have the same issues.
