I'd take him for 3M with Chambers being sold and Holding being sent out on loan.

I get getting in experience to cover mertersacker. The most important thing with evans is he's a winner at club level. Does not need adjusting and he's played at high level. Being back in a top team would be big for his confidence.

But not sure evans is the answer?? He must have some great stats or a great scouting report on him. Man city and us are looking at him after all .City have cash to buy anyone. But they are looking at evans. Fergie obviously played him and won so there is something there.Sometimes you just dont need some fancy overseas named player.Just a solid defender doing his job with massive motivation.

I'll be cool with him here if he's under 15 mill.If this goes through lets trust the scouts.

English players will probably appreciate in value in 13 months when everyone else needs a work permit so even though he's getting on he'll have a resale value come Summer 2019. If I were an EPL manager I'd being going all out to bring in the best EU wonderkids while I can. Anyway, that's for another thread.

Not necessarily. We desperately need an experienced head at the back for when Koscielny isn't there. He's not getting any younger and his achilles can go again at any time.

Mustafi is very hit and miss.

Holding and Chambers both lack experience and should be out on loan.

Mertesacker is finished.

This transfer just makes perfect sense with the experience he has and how much he will cost.

Should have kept Gabriel really all he needed was a 1 year loan to a BPL side who'd give him games and who know how to defend like Burnley and he'd come back ready to slot in.

Steady. I've not said there's not better out there. I'm just saying that he's perfect for here and now for his experience + value.

The players you've mentioned are top quality and some have bright futures. They also won't be going anywhere with a week left in this window and they would cost a hell of a lot more than Evans.

Somewhat agree until you look at Chambers.

Despite Middlesborough getting relegated last season he was great for them. He has now taken a step back since he's been back at Arsenal.

I feel sorry for any young defender that joins Arsenal because they are never going to develop properly under Wenger.

Take him for 3m in summer, he's nothing more than a cheap backup.

I am ok with it because that means we don't have to watch Iwobi miss chances every game.

But more importantly, will never have to worry about an own goal from him.
