Dayot Upamecano

Arsene Wenger is trying to rush through a £1m deal for one of the best prospects in France.

Gunners boss Wenger has received glowing reports on Valenciennes' 16-year-old centre half Dayot Upamecano and is now looking to snap him up.

Manchester United came close to getting the French under-17 international on transfer deadline day - but now could miss out to their great Premier League rivals.

Inter Milan are also interested in Upamecano but it is understood that the teenager would prefer a move to England.

United could not do the deal in time even though it looked as if they had agreed terms with Valenciennes.

Now they could miss out altogether as Arsenal - keen to strengthen their academy ranks and first team defensive options - are ready to offer £1m plus extras.

You know things are bad when we no longer attract unknown French youngsters.

why do united even bother? It's not like they are going to ever give a young unknown a chance with Mourinho around.

They could always bid 60m to justify keeping him on the bench.

Imagine if he was the multi billionaire owner of a bundesliga club who unwinds by opening multiple threads on GW, then buggering off...

You do know Salzburh and Leipzig have the same owners and Salzburg is their farm team? He will be the 4th player in the last few months sent from Salzburh to Leipzig. They buy really young talented player and start them off in Salzburh with the idea that they move to bundesliha when they are ready. Funny thing is Mourinho also lost out hmm
