Arsenal are leading the chase for RB Leipzig's France Under-21 defender Dayot Upamecano, 20, who is valued at £50m. (Mail)

Ridiculous prices for an untried unknown.

I know nothing about him other than on FM and FIFA he has the best potential of any CB after De Ligt lol.

I did watch him once playing for Leipzig and he was getting caught in possession trying to dribble out of his own box.

I do think our decision to sign David Luiz for £8m was probably better than spunking 90m on this kid though, hes about to enter his last year of his contract so we may be able to get him much cheaper.

De ligt has been shit at Juve tbh.

So that makes this kid with the best potential.

I read something recently that, that Kanoute guy is better again, i don't watch a lot of German footy, i watch the odd Dortmund game and thats about it.

The idea of having 2 high potential french wonderkid CB's (with Saliba) sounds pretty good though if we could get this guy for like 40m, because hes coming into his last year, we played 30m for Saliba who is way more untested than this guy, and to be honest players like Koulibaly are out of our reach.

40m is a bargain for someone who is relatively experienced at such a young age.

Word in Germany is that Spurs have offered cash for a January transfer, knowing them it will be low-ball we need to get this done ... this lad is very good 50m on a 21 year old with already nearly 100 top flight games --- yes please. The issue appears to be CL neither us or Spurs look good for next season and he wants CL football, so maybe he will wait until the summer the problem for RB is that he only has 18 months on his contract, his value will likely go down for them.

Has to be the biggest priority he's an absolute beast. The physical profile is exactly what we need especially with Holding nowhere near back to his old self and Chambers' injury.

Leipzig issue Upamecano statement

RB Leipzig have dented Arsenal’s hopes of signing Dayot Upamecano this month.

Arsenal are currently contemplating making a bid for the 21-year-old centre-back, whom they’ve been long-time admirers of.

Express Sport understands Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi has held discussions with the Bundesliga side over a potential January deal.

A £50million bid for the Frenchman - who is refusing to sign a new contract at the Red Bull Arena - has been mooted.

Leipzig, however, have publicly declared they have no interest in parting company with the France Under-21 international.

The Bundesliga side issued a defiant statement on Upamenano’s future after seeing a tweet from an Arsenal fan that read: “Me waiting for Upamecano to be announced.”

Leipzig responded to the tweet with GIF of former WWE star Wade Barratt, which had the accompanying caption: “I’ve got some bad news.”
